I suspect that a bean counter got involved, decided they could save $0.25 per car if they made the changes......

Wonder how easy it is to retrofit? I too don't have a hood light but would like one!

Wiring would be the trickiest part - if that's there I think it should almost be a drop in

Thinking of retrofitting an under hood light as well. But instead of the OEM assembly, I was thinking about using some surface mount LED's like these from Oznium https <://www.oznium.com/led-bolts-prewired-leds/prewired-surface-mount-led>
That way I can place them where I think they're most useful.
Used Oznium products before and they are high quality, USA and excellent customer support.
The wiring seems to be their already, so it's just a matter of splicing into it.
Wondering what kind of sensor activates it (pin, mercury, ??), and if there's any warranty issues with retrofitting (I'm still under CPO warranty).

Found a parts list : https://store.paramountauto.com/auto...omponents-scat
don't see anything that says "switch" though, I would assume it would a simple contact switch perhaps in the latching mechanism, currently at work so I can't look at my car.

Hi
i was going to change my interior bulbs with LED too. I do have a problem with removing the Dome light. I think there are two metal bracket on front of the Dome that stuck and I can not take it down.
Any suggestions? Is that happened to any one else?
Thanks

there are 4 metal brackets on the dome and they are a pain - I mutilated the hell out of one of mine, so the dome is now only held in place by 3 brackets.

if you have a panel tool, you might try sticking it in up there and see if you can't get them to loosen their death grip

there is a switch on the hood latch - I will bet it is for the under hood light

I am really worried now. My dome is hanging like half inch now . It won’t click up and doesn’t come down too. I think at least the two from bracket stuck. I don’t know about the side ones.
Did your bracket break? I am scared now to brake multiple bracket and nothing remains to the dome any more.
any input?
Thanks

My best suggestion would be to get a good flashlight and look around up in there and see if you can pin point where it is hanging up, not easy I know, but the only real alternative is to force it down, at which point you'll probably need to replace the brackets.

Then in your case just metal bracket broke. Then the dome frame won’t break hopefully . Is that right?
In this case I hope they set the metal brakes.

I start with the dome and I am stuck. I am afraid to start changing the other interior light now.
is there any other problems may happen with other lights or they are kind of straight forward?
Thanks

All the other lights are fairly straight forward, the dome is the only tricky one.

DOn't think the bracket broke as much as just got mangled in my case.

I ordered a few of the Oxnium LED strips in blue. I’ll install under the dash and in each door pocket
