ambient dimmable option

Hi anyone knows about LeD ambient dimmable option ?

I am trying to add that feature. It is one of my favorite options. I saw on my friends car and it is very nice when you are driving in dark. It is a package that dealer says it cannot be added later.. it turns on the foot lights and some led strips on the doors too.
The main feature is the overhead dome led light that gets on but dimmed at dark while you are driving and it very nice. You need to experience it to see what I mean. To activate it there should be a button on your overhead console.

i am thinking to buy an overhead console with that button on eBay to see if I can get it to work. I want to switch the whole console with mine. It probably needs programming too .
any input?

hi
did you install the LED strips? If you did please posts some pictures and some infos how you did it. I like to do it too.

also I finally change all the interior bulbs to LED and interestingly I found out that those LED bulb are dimmable and you can do dimm them on the dome light. I though this is good to know.

Thanks for this DogWood.
You mentioned all 16 bulbs are all of the same type. Are they T10's, T20's or festoons?

Dome takes 2 lights, reading lights another 2.

Interior lights: dome (2), foot wells(2), door cutesy lights(4), rear reading lights (2), glove box(1), cargo area (2) = 13 for interior only, all use the same bulb type.

the under hood light(1) also uses the same bulb and the 2 lights on the rear hatch do as well = 16

they are T10's

the two in the rear hatch need to be the same length as the stock bulbs (or shorter) the others aren't as much as an issue

I could use T10 on all no problem.
Just The license plate ones were different.

Anyone have the issue that the rear reading lights come on when unlocking/opening doors when the car is off, but once the car is on they wont turn on? Even if I hit the button to turn on the rear lights, while the car is running, they will not turn on. Same thing happened with my last panamera.

If you have the LED bulbs, they might not be dimmable. My guess is that unlocking and opening the doors is probably giving it the full voltage to it(non-dimmed)
I believe you can adjust the dimming for the rear reading lights but holding it down for more than 1sec when the car is on, it cycles through the brightness level. It may turn on when it gets to the max brightness level.

You are correct. The bulbs i had were non dimmable, which was causing them not to turn on when the car was running. Once I replaced, they started working. Thank you!!!!!!
