oj8888 is infamous around these parts
Porsche Panamera - Shift Gears Issue

Porsche Panamera 4S - 2011

Gear shift to "R" not working recently and randomly, So we run diagnose the issue by pulling the fault code(s):

P1731: Displacement Sensor Shift Rod Gears 4/6, Implausible Signal.
P1732: Displacement Sensor Shift Rod Gears 5/7, Implausible Signal.

Just for your information, The car has not been used for a long time and battery replaced about 3 years ago, car mileage is around 60,000KM and gearbox oil changed on 40,000KM.

If the problem appears and I turn the car off and on, the problem will be solved and in some cases it will appears again.

Please let me know your thoughts on this matter, list what you guess to check and test from our side.

Thank you,

I know this is an old post. The errors you have are due to shift rod sensors inside pdk. Some dealers tell you that you need new pdk. No.
You need the new sensors, and recalibration of pdk after replacement. Sensors are about 1200, harness for sensors about 150. Add tax and shipping plus a day of replacing, not hard but long. Also need piwis2 for calibration. So if you dont have one, make sure you have a tow and recal lined up after replacing. That is extra cost since you will need dealer or an indy shop with the piwis2 tool.
