New 2017 4S - wheel question
Just took the plunge and bought a 2017 4S CPO Panamera with 10k on it. I love it.
Bought it in Florida and moved it up to Massachusetts. So now I'm thinking I need a set of winter wheels w/ winter tires. Car has 21's all around now.
Would folks recommend I go smaller? Would 19 be the call here?
Will wheels of a older Panamera fit this car? What spec's do I need exactly and where can I source that information?
Sorry for so many questions - all new to me. Thanks, OTF

Suggest you dial up "TireRack" and explore the possibilities. I think you will find a very limited selection of winter tires for 21" wheels. Drop down to 19". !9" are oem size and fit nicely. Selection is still not great - Michelins at $320 each.
Consider buying used oem wheels. They are plentiful on eBay, and from sources like WheelsAmerica.
My '14s has 20" wheels. For winter I am going to 18s oems all around. I bought the narrower and lighter front rims, which I will install all around. I am not a big fan of staggered wheels in front engine autos. No doubt larger rear wheels/tires help to induce understeer, but personally I am more comfortable with a bit of oversteer. I am not a big fan of larger wheels/tires. Often they increase unsprung/rotational weight. For instance my 20" rears weigh 67 lb each. Fronts weigh 65lb. The 18s weigh 52 lb.

I also have a 2017 4S. Great car. As already mentioned, the choice of tires available for 19" wheels is limited. I would go with an oem set of 20" to have a wider selection of tires in the future. Check TireRack and Sun Coast Parts for options. Sun Coast sells complete sets of OEM wheels with winter tires. Good luck!
For best traction in the winter, smaller wheels and narrow tires will work best. I run 19" wheels w/ the Michelin N-Spec tires and the car is great in the snow. As others have suggested, a used set of OEM wheels may be your best bet - stay factory and save some money. Best of luck and enjoy your new ride!
No reason to go with staggered wheels for winter. Staying with factory oem wheels is a good choice as they are more robust than some aftermarket wheels. Suggest you buy the narrower front rims all around. Then you can rotate. Ebay has plenty of good used oem wheels. I recently paid an average of $250 ea. for oem 18" rims on eBay. N-Spec tires are also a "safe bet", but is a bit of overkill for USA drivers who don't drive Autobahn speeds. The lack of an N-Spec designation does not mean the tire is unsafe for Porsche usage. Personally, I like the Michelin Ice-3 tires. They are quiet on dry pavement. They are great in rain with many tire sipes; and they make your car a goat in the snow. Good wear characteristics too.

I’m looking at the same thing right now. I have an ‘18 Panamera 4S with the 21” wheel option and I’d rather run 19” or 20” wheels for winter. Do all the 970 wheels fit the 971 without offset issues? 19”s seem pretty plentiful and I’m sure the car would be great in the snow with those and a set of Pilot Alpins, etc.
thanks!
thanks!
Beer brewer. You ask if the 970 & 971 19" wheels interchange without offset issues. The short answer is "probably". In my case I ordered used wheels on eBay and physically confirmed fitment. My eBay seller accepts returns, so I felt safe in ordering them sight unseen. But my wheels were for a 970 and my Porsche is a 970. There are internet sources available which spec wheels and I think with just a bit of research you should be able to confirm offset spec.

. I bought mine from Porsche Nashua.
