0w40 to 5w40

anyone noticed any improved oil consumption with the change? I just changed it to motul 5w40 due to the great reviews on better oil consumption. i will report back how it does compared to the 0w40 mobil1

Interesting, might work for N/A engines. I'd be slightly concerned with Turbos however.

My indy shop switched me over as well. I don't notice any major difference because my oil generally lasts until the next change. It's certainly no worse, perhaps a little better.

its been 600km and the oil has dropped one bar as of yet, typically before it would drop one bar every 400-500km, wondering if the oil made a difference or if its just a coincidence?

also the mechanic checked the AOS diapharm and said it its in good shape with no tears....is it possible the AOS diaphram wasnt installed correctly before? when it was taken out a spring popped out so not sure if it was put in the aos correctly

MY unscientific thought would be if you were running in a warmer climate then it would not have any adverse affects. Please correct me if Im wrong with my assumption as I got my degree from a KrackerJack box

I switched both my turbo cayenne and panamera to castrol edge 5W40. Love castrol, and porsche been using this on many cars too as recommended oil. Remember, porsche recommends range, the 5W40 is in the range, I live in warmer climate, so the little thicker at cold works well for me.

Hey all I just wanted to update this regarding the oil consumption.

Mobil1 0W40- consumes about 1L of oil every 1500-1800km Aprox.
Motul 5w40- have driven over 1400km and the oil consumption display only has dropped 1 bar. it dropped 1 bar down after 800km of driving and hasn't dropped another bar as of yet after another 600km of driving

as you can see based on the limited driving with the motul oil it has provided quite a big difference in decreased oil consumption. If anyone else has increased oil consumption on the Panamera (im on the V8 naturally aspirated S version) it may be worth looking into Motul?
