So I removed the unit to start from the beginning.

I reconnected everything back to the way it was from the the factory. Now it opens with the buttons but only pops up, doesn’t open all the way. And the button on the trunk doesn’t close the hatch at all now.

So I reinstalled the unit again, it pops open from the remote but I lose the ability to open from the button inside the car. But when it does open it only pops up a bit then I have to lift it manually.

Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Hatch Opener

Thank you very much "FIRST_PORSCHE" I truly appreciate your assistance. With your help, I got it working!

I unplugged the negative battery terminal and disconnected everything again. I connected it back to factory and re connected the battery. Nothing was working, with the hatch open I figured out that by pressing the hatch button on the hatch itself, it resets itself. Then I did the same with the trunk close button. I then closed the hatch manually and tried the fob again, everything (all the factory buttons) was working as it should. (resetting those hatch buttons may be common knowledge to most, but it wasn't to me)

I then unplugged the battery again, and reconnected the remote unit. I then had to do the same with the hatch buttons and reset them. Then closed the hatch manually. Opened it with the remote and then closed it with the remote. All factory buttons are working as they should as well.

First off, sorry to drag up an old thread!

I installed this unit today and I know I've wired it correctly: unplugged factory connectors inside tailgate, connected to sockets on new harness, plugged new harness connectors into module inside tailgate. However now my tailgate doesn't function at all. It unlatches on the remote or from either button in the car, but it does not raise and it does not close. Anybody got any suggestions? I tried disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery and reconnecting but that had no effect.

Hi, did you follow all the steps in the last post that I recommended besides just the negative terminal portion? I had the same problem and resolved it by following those steps. Let me know and I'll try and help if possible. Mine is still working issue free. Thx

Thanks for the reply! No, I haven't done that step by step, but I'll try it now. Just to get it straight in my head, the procedure is:
Disconnect battery negative.
Restore to factory wiring.
Reconnect battery.
Open the hatch and press the hatch open button (Is that the button on the outside of the hatch? Do you press it once or hold it?)
Push the trunk close button. (Is that the one inside the hatch? Again, just a short press or do I hold it?)
Disconnect battery.
Connect the mod.
Reconnect battery.
Follow the same reset procedure as above.

Is that correct?

Yup exactly and before your redo it all try holding the trunk latch on the trunk lid. See if it resets. If not then follow those instructions.

Great, I'll give that a shot. I just tried holding the trunk latch with the mod installed and nothing happened. I'm going to go through your full procedure, but it might have to wait, we've got a thunderstorm passing through and the car is outside.

I tried all of the above. In OEM config everything works as normal. With the mod installed, the automatic tailgate doesn't open or close. I double checked the wiring, all was fitted correctly. I'm stumped.

Ya, nothing works when it's installed. All I can do is unlatch the tailgate, but I have to manually move it to open or closed. It unlatches by pressing the button on the tailgate, in the car or on the key. But it won't do anything else.

hmm not sure.... try this from the trunk lid buttons. Press and hold the left close button for about 10 seconds until you hear a long beep.Try closing now with the right button.

I only have a close button on the right... which button are you talking about on the left?

I've sent photos and videos to the seller to demonstrate what's going on. Hopefully I'll be able to figure this out because it would be a nice feature to have.

On another note, I've also bought a dashcam for the panamera that integrates with/replaces the trim in front of the rear view mirror. That's going to be a whole other challenge to install.

Just to update this: The seller suggested that I wasn't closing one of the connectors fully and it wasn't making a connection. He was right! All working perfectly now so thanks for the help and suggestions.

I also installed my dashcam today, integrated with the trim in front of the rearview mirror and a second camera on the rear window. The dome light and overhead console is a pain to remove and to reinstall but I got it all done in a couple of hours. I routed the cable for the rear cam through the headliner at the windscreen, down the a pillar, out to the rubber weather seal in the door, back in along the seam under the seatbelt height adjustment, along the rear door weather seal and again under the trim beside the rear headrest and into the upper weather seal on the tailgate. It's very neat with the only visible wire being a bit of slack between the camera and the weather seal on the tailgate. It's a FitcamX model. Looks good so far from the little test footage I've checked on my phone.

Thank you for following up and thanks also to the OP for bringing this to the forum! I’ve been following this thread for some time. Most people’s comments have been positive. Can others please confirm the module continues to work as expected after some “real world” testing?

I see this module is still available on AliExpress. I’d love to have hatch closing functionality from the FOB! @FIRST_PORSCHE are you still around to help with install questions for those of us that might pull the trigger?
