Question: Since coolant sprayed everywhere, should I request an engine compartment detail? is this a reasonable request? Or will they just use a rag to clean? I have been wanting to do a detail since I bought it.
I see a lot of coolants note a paint test where they test the corrosive effect to be neglibgle. But I would think that cleaning up would be part of the repair...
I looked as best as I could with a scope and our '13 has the same unbolted design! Different adhesive maybe, or just hasn't reached the age/mileage? Relatively I would expect '10, '11, '12, then '13 motors to have the failure in that order.
Have been hesitant to order the thermostat housing as I'm already sitting on top of a lot of parts and fluids...
Forgot to mention that dealership thought it was ok to return my car with radiator fluid sprayed all over engine compartment. I could smell it from 10 feet away. The service advisor said it would “burn off”. So I got pretty pissed, and I even had to go to talk to the detail folks to get it done (only spoke Spanish). Luckily I speak Spanish. But I didn’t have to do all that. Car runs well again and got a full engine detail at no cost. And I also saw how they did it so I can do myself next time.

I guess I could be wrong. (Having confused a heating element as a MAP sensor I'm definitely going to be cautious). The spotting looks like telltale silicate additive that has dried/precipitated. I was hoping that MAYBE this was caused by using a different/non-Porsche spec coolant, but alas seems not....
panatela, what year and how many miles do you have on your Panamera? I'm taking the stock plenum off right now and anything else that I can easily remove. Hope I'll be able to see if I have the updated thermostat housing.
2012 and 54k miles at the moment. What’s up w the plenum?
Not sure if it's even called the plenum but that black plastic Y piece in the front. I was able to see a little better and it doesn't look like it's the updated thermostat housing. The joint seems to be ok and almost like a nice bead around it, but who knows.
