How to change gears in Sport Plus?

Hi all,

I’ve had my 2010 Panamera 4S for 9 months. Haven’t driven in Sport Plus. Do you have to release the gas pedal when you change gears up or down? My car is automatic. Thanks.

No, just stomp on the gas pedal and go. You don’t need to manually shift, the car will do it quite well on its own in Sport Plus.

Drive it like you stole it ! LOL
In all seriousness, you can just mash the accelerator and the car's computer will take over.
I've only done it a couple of times and it's really hard for me to get over this mental threshold. If I ever were to do the same thing in my modified 996 Turbo I know I'm dead. My Pannie Turbo S is so smart that the computer takes over and 'saves' me. It's like driving a latest generation motorcycle with advanced electronics. Unfortunately, I have trust issues.

Just drive it like you normally do. The only difference is the computer doesn't shift the transmission until it gets to a higher rpm level. In sport plus it also uses first gear to get going vs sport/comfort which starts in 2nd gear. For around town use I don't find it all that useful (you are going to fast before it wants to shift in my opinion) so I manually shift it in Sport Plus but this is personal preference. I know guys that drive the car in sport plus all the time. If you are going for acceleration and speed, just leave it in automatic mode and floor it (and hold on).

Hi, if I change to “M”, then I have to use the levers on the steering wheel? How do I change gears then?

If you switch to manual mode by moving the shifter to the side, then you can push the shift lever up or down to change gears, or use the buttons/paddles on the steering wheel, your choice.

Thanks. My question is, do I have to release the gas when changing gears up or down in manual mode?
