Are any of you using a "in-care wired" radar detectors with jammers in your Panamera? If so, front and rear coverage for a 360 deg protection or just front detectors? What brands and how is it working? Also would like to know where you mounted the controller and display. Thanks.

 

I have a Passport with front and rear, it was in the car when I purchased it. Jammers er/I mean detectors are in the front bumper behind the left and right openings for the rads. Rear is integrated into the license plate mounting. The control is stealth in the ashtray and the viewer is above the mirror at the back of the overhead control panel. I think the controller is under the passenger seat or passenger footwell (never really looked)

The gear the boys in blue have now is better than the Passport I have but if they leave their kit on I can pick it up. Also great for photo cameras at lights as it tells me I am coming up to one.

Definitely not 360 though

 

Has anyone found that just using Waze and saving the $4k makes more sense? I know Waze isn't 100% and you are depending on others for markers. Just don't want to have to turn down the volume on one of these systems due to all the false alarm triggers. Anyone find that happening with the upper end systems? I have a 2016 Turbo S in carmine red and it seems to attract the boys in blue....

 

I have 3 Porsches and 4 Ducatis and I'm a strong believer in Valentine 1, of which I have 2 units which I move accross all my vehicles, even the bikes.
Valentine offers front and rear detection as long as it is positioned higher up on the windshield. I hardwired it into the rear view mirror electrical feed, a procedure which works on most Porsches.
Valentine has saved my butt so many times and pays itself back in a couple of months, even my wife can't live without it.
Waze is a "nice to have", but is obviously dependant on wider user support, which won't help you if piggy is hiding on the other side of a hill in a rural area.
Cost for a V1 is around 400$, the hardwiring kits can be bought for 20$ on Amazon.

 

Yes, a V1 will pay for itself many times over. Do it.

 

Is anyone using the escort max360c? I’ve read good reviews of the unit. Escort also sells a wireless laser jammer system that pairs with the max360 and is easier to install then other systems. Not sure how good the system is but I like the fact that I can start using the radar detector and add the jammers at a later date.

 

Waze is great tool, but really only in densely populated areas and well traveled roads. Found that out when the family took a trip out west to see national parks this summer. When you are on long stretches of lightly traveled roads, Waze basically becomes pretty useless for LE spotting. But for my everyday driving on busy roads, it's incredibly effective. So I guess it just depends where you drive as to whether it's an effective sole option or you use both.

 

I once gave Escort a try but put it on eBay after a couple of months.
Once you get used to the V1 and it's directional arrows there is no way back.
From what I understand the founder of Valentine used to work for Escort at some point in time. I am sure Escort is a good product since it seems to have a large following, it just didn't cut it for me.
Regarding laser jamming, etc...I have my own opinions. If a cop sees you flying down the road he will still throw the book at you. It's not like LE are high integrity people who will always play by the book. After all, these are people who are allowed to lie in order to get a confession, so your first plan of action should be to avoid any contact and not get on their radar. Literally.
