This will get debated, but I'm personally happy with my Passport/Escort 9500i.

Search the forums.

I would expect you to find most people are fans of the Valentine 1. I have purchased 2 in the past 10 years.

As for laser jammers, I have personal experience with blinder and laser park pro.. the newest model out is the laser interceptor - which is very favorably reviewed. Not everyone is a believer (i.e DJ) but i swear by mine.

Check out Radartest.com...I beleive they rate Belpro Rx, Escort/Passport and Valentine repectively. We do get a great deal of calls for K40..but according to tests doesn't seem as effective!

The Valentine One is the best.

Radartest.com is run by Craig Peterson who works for Bel and Escort so he bashes the V1 all the time. He got busted trying to sabotage an independent radar detector testing group.

Everyone loves Valentine. Personally, it drove me nuts and I returned it after a week. The thing never shut up in populated areas. But I'm clearly in the minority on that one.

You know that there are several different modes, right? I find the best mode is "L" or "l" in populated areas - to change mode hold down the button for 2-3 seconds...

The Valentine One will alert to all sources of X and K band radar and that includes door openers that operate on those bands. There is no difference in the frequencies that doors operate on and the frequencies that cops use. If your detector doesn't alert you until you are right in front of the door, you don't have a very sensitive radar detector. A less sensitive radar detector means a greater chance of receiving a ticket because you can't detect instant-on radar and radar from long distances until it is too late.

X band is rarely used so you can turn it off if it isn't used in your area by police. Turning off X band will quiet down a Valentine One and every other detector.

This is to help people program the V1.

I highly recommend that everybody set up K band auto muting on the V1 to help quiet it down a bit. Learn how to set it up below.

It is too bad that you returned your V1 after a week because that isn't enough time to process the information that the V1 will provide.

I find it ironic that they used a Valentine One to pinpoint the location of the hidden radar gun.
