Weird issues with horn on 2011 Panamera 4

I've had some weird issues with the horns on my 2011 Panamera since I bought it last July. When I first got it, the horn fuse (#48 I believe in the passenger side dash) was blown. I replaced it, and the horn worked for a while, though it seemed rather faint and dull. After about a month, the fuse blew again, and I replaced it, and it blew again not even 2 presses of the horn later.

Fast forward to now, I finally decided to replace both high and low horns, as I assumed at least one was shot. I put them in, and replaced the fuse again, and still nothing. The fuse is not blowing, but the horn does not work at all, whereas before it would work as long as the fuse was good. I checked all the fuses related to the horn in both sides of the dash, and the rear trunk area, and all are good.

Something new is happening though. When I put the key in and turn it, I hear a very faint sound of a horn coming from inside the dash on the driver side. It sounds just like the horn is sounding, but is very quiet. I confirmed it is not the horns themselves sounding, and the sound stops after about 5 seconds. You then have to turn the car off, take the key out and re-insert to and turn it on to get it to do it again. Happens every time. I also need to add that the horns do perform a double beep when setting the alarm. They always have, even when the fuse was blown.

Im sort of at a loss on what could be the issue. Any ideas?

I'm no expert on this, but I believe the horns you activate via steering wheel are entirely different from the 'chirping' horns that activate when you lock the car. Did you replace w/ OEM horns?

Oem horns were used. Think there might be a issue in the airbag or clockspring?

Have you replaced your steering wheel or done any other work on your airbag or clockspring to suspect them?

Nope, but I just bought the car 8 months ago and this was an issue when I bought it. I'm just trying to cover all my bases since I'm pretty sure it's obviously not the horns themselves.

Pardon my ignorance but where is the relay located? I'm not an electrician but I have a multimeter and can follow directions on how to check it

Take it to the dealership. These car have a history of horn problems. It is an expensive fix due to labor (having to remove alot of body work. Might as well have it down right.

I have the same issue on my 2011 TT. Just started looking into the issue and haven't had an excuse to take the bumper off. @Rat3d M if you figure it out definitely post back. I'll let you know what I find as well.

Since the dealer said the horn in ours is not working, my plan is to 1st check the fuse. If it is blown, I replace it, and the fuse blows again, then before I replace it again I'll do some electrical troubleshooting/diagnostics.

Okay, I got the bumper off and then found the black plastic flaps that hide the horns and removed them. I disconnected the electrical connection and want to test the horns. Does anyone know if I can just apply 12 V to the pins? Thanks!!!

$15.xx later I've pulled the horn wiring diagram.

Horn Hall Sensor - CLSM -> < - Front BCM - Two-Tone Horn

Term 15 ON
EL. Ignition Lock - > < - Front BCM
