Battery Charger for ECU Flash

Anyone who has done the My Genius based ECU flashes with an early 970 - did you need to put the car on the charger due to how long it took to read and re-flash the ECU? IF so, which charger did you use? Figured I'd see if there was any preferred models others are using or if it was even necessary.

When I did my 2010, I did not use any type of charger. I had challenges w/ my ECU reading the My Genius unit and eventually tossed in the towel and sent in my ECU for them to program. Bottom line is I spent an excessive amount of time w/ multiple attempts going thru the My Genius process and it never affected other electrical systems. The flash I used made a significant difference in drivability and eliminated the turbo lag. Best of luck!

Perusing the Porsche technical information I thought I saw 40A or higher as the recommended power level.

Well if anyone else has this question I'm not sure it was even necessary. Borrowed someone's 12A/75A. But it only took 1 minute to read and maybe 10 minutes to write the file. Not sure it even took long enough for a regularly driven cars battery to get low. But probably liability for the company and insurance from smoking an ECU for you.

Also, love the tune. This is definitely a no brainer on these cars... other than my already terrible gas mileage and high tear wear will likely only get worse....

That 12A/75A was probably enough to save you from what skiracer13 went through.
