970 Panamera turbo performance review. Dragy # FVD mid pipe review

Wanted to post a quick review of the numbers I am seeing out of my PTT with bolt ons.

Car in question is a 2012 Panamera Turbo 50k miles
black/carbon interior option. It’s also for sale $45,000 OBO.

it was nice and cool this evening DA Ranged from 1700 to 1100 so wanted to test out my dragy and review the new mid pipes I have installed.

most recently I installed my FVD resonator delete pipes. Fit and finish is nice on them as well as the downpipes (catless) I had previously installed.

I don’t like how the mid pipes came in two pieces but I am guessing this is necessary for shipping purposes international from Germany.

Rhonda at FVD has been a great rep for FVD USA, as I have a lot of FVD parts on my car and her customer service is always great.

as far as performance parts this is what is has currently

FVD TUNE
FVD CAT LESS DP and MIDPIPE
AP Y PIPE
AP FORGED DIVERTER VALES
BMC FILTER

this is my first time using the dragy but I visited the track prior to installing the mid pipes.

install on the mid pipes is pretty straight forward I used a lift that I have access to at my local Army post without a lift I would not attempt.

the sound difference is really nice paired with the catless DP. very deep like a lot of the AMG’s sound. The car also has the PSE and with the valves closed it is a lot quieter when you activate the PSE it really wakes up especially past 3k RPM. Despite what I have read I don’t notice any drone, the 970 cabin is very well insulated but never the less, zero drone.

before installing the mid pipes my best 1/4 mile was 11.39 at a preped tracked (before I had the dragy), but usually it was a mid 11.5.

my most recent numbers after install of the mid pipes on straight shell pump 93.

* still fighting traction issues on the pilot super sports, I have a pair of 295 trofeo R’s I might throw on there or hold out for a set of R888 but I rather keep the OEM size because of the AWD system.

best 1/4 mile 11.1 @120
also ran a 11.19@124 not sure how I got an extra 4 MPH.

0-60 3.3 (I had a 3.2 but it was invalid in dragy because of the slope)

60-130 best was 8.69. This was surprising for me because usually yesterday it ran a low 9 on the only 60-130.

im hoping once I get some better traction I can get into the 10’s I have seen low 1.6 60fts at the track.

overall this car never fails to perform its an incredible car and a great car for the value. These cars a Engineered to be driven and Porsche has done a great job over building these cars to handle the power.

you can not really beat the value and appeal of the gorgeous interior with all this power.

here is the data from the dragy.

That's rolling out really nice. I plan to do some of those exhaust mods over the winter. I am getting similar results with the tune, filter and plenum but your 1/8 mile is better.

Nice work, are you still stock DP? I’m thinking I can shave off some significant time with a good set of tires.

Still stock exhaust, no down pipes, yet. Winter project. On the tires side, for straight line, I have always found the Continental Sport Contacts worked really well. I could do 1.6x 60 foots on a rear wheel drive car. This DRAGY results was on a dusty back road with no traffic so the grip was a little challenging.

The DP are definitely a project to install, but they wake the car up and make it sound very nice.

Working on which exhaust option to pursue. High flow cat, no cat, etc, etc.

Those are some impressive times. I have a dragy but have not messed around with it too much yet. The biggest realization is how much room you need LoL.

Question, does anyone else hear a big whistle (not induction noise) when WOT? i know it sounds silly (as it is probably a leak) but it didn't not make the noise prior to the tune so I figured it was the increase in pressure.

Any tips? or some places to look for leaks? Not CEL, no irregular idling (that is the symptom i would get on my 996 tt) but am not sure if these are as reliant on boost as the 996 was.

Most likely a leak. Most likely from diverter valves.

I had to return my Dragy due to insulated glass on my PTT. Would not connect to satellites and Dragy customer service stated it will not work with vehicles equipped with this glass. Same reason radar detectors won't work....I can just assume I run low 11s

+1 for diverted valves. Easy install and inexpensive upgrade.

I didn’t even think of that due to my past cars having them. Any pointers for install?
