Transmission mount shock replacement worth it?

Who on here replaced the transmission mount, and noticed big time decrease in vibration?
I am contemplating replace but looking for after replace opinions.
Was it worth it? Smoother? Not?
Thanks.

Also, need to know if the shock is adjustable. From what I saw taking apart, it is 2 parts. The large plate that is mounted with 6 bolts. And a small aluminum part.
the large plate had the 2 bushings attached with single screw each. The aluminum block was attached to transmission, and it has the two locations that the bushings contact (I assume).
can the bushings be adjusted to move out of the brace holes, so that they can push against transmission more?
after I removed mine and reinstalled, I notice more vibration. I did clean all surfaces and stuff. Wondering if adjust is an option or replacement is only option.

what does this transmission shock look like? are you referring to the tranny mount with the two rubber leg thingies? I wouldnt worry about changing this out unless it is falling apart.... I would recommend changing this mount out whenyou replace the front two engine mounts..... I changed out the trnny mount alone and to be honest with you, didnt exactly feel a HUGE difference, although slightly quiter.. When I replaced the two front main engine mounts two weeks later, the combination of all three engine mount replaced made a HUGE difference! You dont want to just change out the tranny mount as it would then be the mount taking a large brut of the weight...when yu are under there, make sure you do a good wipe down and cleaning around the center support bearing on the driveshaft too... the dirt and dust dries out the rubber prematurely if not clean. Good Luck dude

I may be looking into doing this for preventative maintenance. Can you do a right up Ciaka? I actually just did the final drive today from your previous DYI and man was it bad after 51k miles

Already have pics for transmission shift rod sensors, that includes removing the transmission. Mount
so as I have time, I'll put that up.
main thing is, before you remove the tran. Brace, support tran with something. I used jack lift with block of wood that went right under the Tran oil inspection plug. When u see the DIY, you will know. Not hard.
one thing I noticed was after I put everything back, I feel more vibration. Maybe tightened boltsctpo tight? Maybe dirt was good buffer.

hey mikeptt, did you replace engine mounts alone or at a shop? I am very interested in getting those replaced.
thanks.

haven’t done it yet. It would be interested to see how hard it is. I would do the trans mount once I can figure out how involved it is. I don’t have a lift at the house but I do have access to one near by, I think it’s like $10 an hour to use. Was your worn out pretty bad?

I cant tell if worn out. The steel brace comes off to reveal aluminum mount with two bushings on it. They were still sticking out, hard. But once I put it all back together cleaned, noticed more vibration at the wheel and car.

From what I hear, engine bushings require lifting engine.
trans mount easy.

Check out my PDK shift rod sensors DIY write up. It includes all steps to remove the Trans. mount for replacement.

Removing the trans mount is easy peasy, provided you have the jacks and whatnot.

Hi, did you change the engine mounts by yourself?

Just to complete the thread, I replaced the transmission mount shock. Is it worth it? I could definitely tell that the worn out shock was keeping the transmission lower than the new one (by about quarter inch or so). With new shock, transmission was realigned, I think there is less vibration from transmission, but its hard to tell or quantify the difference. Anyway, it is done and I know there is a new shock damping the transmission vibrations. On to the next item (of all things, it will be tires change since one of my tires miraculously got a hole on the inside side wall and cannot be patched/plugged). So off I go getting 4 new tires, waiting for them to come, trying to decide if I need a set of new rims (hsit, forgot to talk about this with wife and she is asleep now....dont want to surprise her with a bill for a set of rims without any lubrication). Tomorrow I guess.
