Cute/wimpy horn and now this...

Earlier in the summer the family and I were out in the Panamera and for some reason I had to use my horn too alert some other driver and my wife inadvertently insulted me and the car by calling the horn cute. 5 minutes later, I ordered the Hella Supertones and waited until the right time to do the upgrade.

With the Winter of COVID upon us and having the car up in the air to look for a coolant leak and possible power steering leak...why not take the time to address some things.

Current vehicle position

Removed these lil guys which for some reason don't match. I had a Hella and a Clarton horn. In any case...see ya!

New guys installed and wired in. (for those looking to make this upgrade, you'll have to bend the factory bracket otherwise they will be pointed downwards. (Wiring was straightforward, no gotchas)

Now upon removal of the bumper I noticed that my lower grill had been attacked by road debris at some point or another with a crack...welp sounds like time for another modification/change.

So I cut out the rest of the grid and I'm waiting for my new aluminum mesh to arrive so I can make effective grills to project my lower radiators and hopefully update the front end.

More to come stay tuned...I'll also be updating my other thread on removing these grills from the bumper without damaging them.

I thought of the screen, went to get some screen at Home Depot, almost tried to attach it, then just threw in the towel and put the bumper back. Luckily I did because the idea I had, I would have had to remove the screen. Look carefully at how the bumper fits and available place to attach the screen...

Good to see. I've been upgrading my car horns for 20 years. Most OE horns sucks. I've had a couple with air tank, compressor, long horns. Shout out to Hornblasters! :-)

It's not all that difficult, I will share more about the mesh options I used, including the Home Depot version

Previous vehicles have also had airhorns...I didn't see or want to create space for airhorns on here...plus possible overkill.

If you pay close attention you might see the differences in the mesh I used here, but I decided to take a stab at modifying the plastic piece below the turn signals and DRLs.

Proper pictures are coming once the car is back on it's feet as I have another modification up my sleeve.

I ordered this mesh from Amazon for the center grill (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I also picked up mesh from Home Depot for the other parts of the bumper I decided to modify.

The Amazon mesh is slightly larger which I felt was appropriate for the center grill, unfortunately the gauge of wire is not as thick as I would have liked. Both grills came powder coated/painted in gloss black which is awesome.

Nice update, the screen looks good and it should help the debris getting to the radiator.

Got everything buttoned up and back on all 4s. The car drives well and seems relatively happier. Some shots of the front end.
