Alright, fellow Porsche enthusiasts, here’s a step-by-step guide to tackling that pesky blower motor replacement. Symptoms were hearing random light squealing coming from behind the passenger side dash in concert with noticing volt fluctuations on the dash. I promise it’s not as scary as most things on this car, though you may find yourself questioning your flexibility along the way. Let’s dive in!
Start with the panel in the passenger footwell.
Remove it just like you would if you were changing the cabin filter. No surprises here—yet.
Locate and remove the screws.
There are 3 visible screws (T-15) that come out easily. But wait! The 4th screw decided to play hide-and-seek. It’s lurking behind a plastic vent tube.
Deal with the sneaky vent tube.
To remove the tube, unscrew the bolt (T-20) near the footwell light (look up for it). Slide the ducting to the left and pull it down. Don’t let it win. You’ve got this.
Drop it like it’s… delicate.
Disconnect the power clip (I used a flathead). Once all the screws are out, the blower motor will drop down. Be ready to catch it—don’t let gravity surprise your head!
Reinstall.
Installation is simply the reverse of removal. No hidden tricks or surprises—just make sure your back can handle the “Porsche Pretzel” contortions.
Pro tip: I used a pillow in the footwell to support myself. (Yes, old guy problems, but it made things much more comfortable. Highly recommend.)
For a first-time-changing-it shade tree mechanic this is a leisurely 40-minute job, so take your time, and maybe throw on some good tunes while you’re at it.
Good luck, and remember: You’re not just fixing a car—you’re building character. New vs Old Vent tube which needs to be removed T-20 screw goes in here... ...through here.
