Tail of the Dragon Redux July 9-11
I have to agree with all the above posts. This was truly an incredible experience. It was if we were let off at some sort of amusement park with the car of our dreams and told the park was ours for the day. I enjoyed meeting and driving with you all and will try to post some pictures. Unfortunately my picture files are too big to post even a single picture. Anyone have any ideas?

Sean...what happened?!??!!? I have yet to talk to anyone about TOD...how crazy was it?!?!? You cant write that small caption above and not go into details.

Actually, I can only imagine as I've driven with Tony in the twisties and let me tell you....He's FREAKIN Fearless!
Come on Let's hear about the details of the drive! Pics are nice...but someone please write about the drive...what happened, how fast, etc....details, details, details....

The only thing I regret was that you were not there because I’m sure you would have been firmly in the mix!!!!

Bill.....it was priceless. Firstly, Bill is a tried and true veteran (both car and sport bikes) of the Dragon and surrounding roads. After we did the Dragon the first time we asked him to lead the convoy the rest of the way inasmuch as he was familiar with the territory. He has a black TT, which can be best described as a pure wolf in sheep’s clothing….it has stock wheels and suspension but a deceptive stage IV performance enhancement upgrade. When he took the lead he said to us that he’ll take it easy and those were the last words we heard. Immediately behind Bill was Ken followed by Tony. Bill took off like a rocket with Ken and Tony in pursuit. Common sense prevailed with Ken and he decided to back of and let Tony past him for the second position. With Tony in bumper-to-bumper pursuit IT WAS ON! These two guys personified “no fear†as they were navigating the twisties at an incredibly intense pace….including 4 wheel drifts around some bends. They put a lot of distance between them and the rest of the gang. It was by far the most awesomely skilled driving display I've witnessed. As for how fast I shutter to mention on the site because you won't believe me...the speeds they hit in those roads were numbing!

Tod
I am finally registered here on 6speed. Thanks to all for an awesome trip to the TOD. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know all of you. I had an incredibly good time.
Because of a recent speeding ticket on my R1, I was a bit reluctant to really "push" it. My plan was to stay at the back of the pack and "take it easy". Ha! Little did I know that I would be put up front with "Mad Dog" Tony! I must believe that Tony's and my report cards in school were both marked with "Doesn't Play Well with Others"! We are certainly from the same insane gene pool. So, Tony, thanks as well for making my trip, as we went tearing around perilous mountain hairpins at strong triple digit speeds, four wheel drifting with sticky rubber compounds screaming for mercy!!!
The look on your and Harvey's faces when we made our first stop on the "skyway" after a mindbending fast run, was priceless. I think we were just so supprised to still be alive! Adrinaline is a good thing. I can't wait til the next time. We can "take it easy" again!
Also, thanks to Ken for setting up such an awesome event and Xico for a great dinner. Last but not least, thanks to Mark R. for helping to bring me into the Porsche family. I do not miss my Zo6 one bit. However, I am afraid you have created a monster! What Mods are next?!!!!!

thanks to all the TOD's for a fantastic 24 hours at Deal's Gap. Everyone had their moments of "excellence" on the highway. Off of the pavement a special thanks to: Ken for great event organization, Tony and Xico for dinner, Mark Mark and Bill for representing NC proud, Doc for sharing his F-15 driver days, Sean for his concern to keep everyone together, Harvey for getting great pix up quickly, Ron for having such a cool color of TT and driving it well, Russ for the tips prior to getting there, and to the group as a whole for being such genuinely interesting AND kind souls.
Life like this doesn't come around too often where such quality people with a common passion for excitement and adrenaline and danger mix so well and with the added bonus of no misfortune. After all, they are still machines no matter how great. (Or in KEN and XICO's case no matter how much greater)
To the Fellowship of the TOD "Here, here! . . . . Long live the bling!" Let us join ranks and venture to each other's kingdom's for track events at VIR in mid Sept (Potomic PCA), CMP (Kershaw SC) in October, Road Atlanta in Aug, and Barber Motorsports Park in Dec. Find it all a Trackschedules.com.

Here is some useful info that you may need the next time
Fortunately we need only laugh at the following since we were so fortunate but could be useful in the future .....
RECTUM STRETCHER
While she was "flying" down the road yesterday (10 miles over the speed limit), a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, and with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked, "What's your hurry?"
To which she replied, "I'm late for work."
"Oh yeah," said the cop, "what do you do?"
"I'm a rectum stretcher," she responded.
The cop stammered, "A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?"
"Well," she said, "I start by inserting one finger, then I work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my
whole hand in. I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch, until it's about 6 feet wide."
"And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot *******?" he asked.
"You give him a radar gun and park him behind a bridge..."
