Is anyone planning to go to the FREE PCA sponsored autocross at Alameda Point (Oakland)? Should be fun....

Now those are some tough choices to make, Alex. I have been at Santana the last few weekends and the one time I miss to go hit some cones you decide to show up?!?!

so you jsut show up and drive? ive been wanting to start getting instruction and stuff but do i need to be a member or anything, have previous experience, etc. And do i need a helmet?

I dont think this has instructors .. the instructed ones is sold out which is on the 22-23rd of July..

 

I dont think the event is free. Unless this is a special event of some kind. GGR puts on a good AX, good instructors and some real fast cars. You'll likely have your time beat by several guys in 30 year old rusty Porsche 914's however.

 

Ok - let me clarify a bit....sorry for the confusion.

1) I just found out that there is a $30 fee.....still very reasonable considering the staff, equipment and the private location.

2) I went to the same AX event a few months back and they provided an instructor to ride with me and give me some pointers, this is exactly the same event. The class / instruction event is completley different and is sold out. Anyone who has never done autocross before is welcome to come for the morning or afternoon race as the person who is in charge of the event emailed me today and said that they are never over booked and there is always room.

3) There will be loaner helmets available to borrow - this is what I did last time.

thanks synergy, for the clarification, i'll try to make it but was told it is going to be my cousin 's b-day party(turning 4 or 5yrs old), so ill tr to sneak out. hope to see some of you there!
