Hello all. I am having an issue with my 2007 v8 vantage manual.
The problem first began a few weeks ago when it began to feel sluggish and threw a check engine light. I ran a scan at the time which showed the code P010a (Mass air flow unit #2). I noticed the check engine light would come on more commonly when the temperature outside was cooler, and even led to the car stalling while driving. I ordered a new MAF and had the Right side replaced immediately.
After having it replaced I drove the car for another day and it still felt sluggish. The next day, I threw a check engine light once again. When driving on the highway at about 60 then letting off the gas, the car would stall. There is also a "Red Triangle" fault for Throttle Actuater fault.
At this time I had the car re-scanned and it is throwing the following codes
p2106 - throttle actuator
p010a- MAF B
p010f - MAF A or B
p0106 - Manifold absolute pressure/barometric pressure sensor
The car has about 22k so I would be surprised if the throttle body went bad so soon. I read about some people having issues with the butterfly sticking? Not entirely sure how this correlates ( https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ion-issue.html )
I would also be surprised if BOTH MAF sensors went bad, especially since I just replaced one last week. Not sure what to make of these codes or how to proceed. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I would try cleaning the electrical contacts and looking at the wiring harness first. Did anyone work on your car before the faults started showing up?
I recently had the CEM module replaced at the dealer about 3 months ago. The car ran perfectly between then and now, can these issues be related?
Furthermore, I had the right side of MAF replaced just now, as I mentioned. The Throttle body codes were not coming up before the MAF was replaced, but the symptoms were the same
Not connected, but I have seen many times were connectors are not connected completely and somebody putting their hand or tool on a wire or connector and causing a break or bad connection.
I would look at the B MAP connector, judging by the codes you are throwing.
I've heard of the throttle bodies going bad, so that might be your problem. It should be easy to test - if there's a local V8V owner you can coax into lending you his for a quick swap, it'd only take 30 minutes to figure out.
I suppose that's a possibility, especially seeing the codes it is giving off. I am just a bit surprised the Throttle body would go at 22k. Would it be possible that a throttle associated misfire would cause it to also give off MAF related codes? Because I had the MAF replaced and it will intermittently still give the p10a/p10f codes.
I just wish I knew that was the problem for sure. I can purchase the part from the dealer and have it replaced. I just don't want to go through the hassle and pay for the part, then still be at square one
I looked up this code in the service manual:
P2106
ETC FMEM – pedal-follower mode
Sensor fault: MAF, one TP, CKP, TSS, OSS, stuck throttle, throttle actuator circuit fault
Im wondering if it could be the throttle body itself vs. the throttle actuator circuit.
Furthermore, I decided to take the throttle body apart and do the job right. I disconnected the TB from the manifold and cleaned the entire thing top to bottom. I also took apart the electrical connections and cleaned them with electrical cleaner. There was some oil on the electrical components.
I did all of this with the battery disconnected then re-connected everything after cleaning. As soon as I started driving the car it felt more responsive. No more feelings of restricted power. I took it for a spirited drive for about 30 minutes without any issues. (previously the car was stalling within minutes)
After about 40 minutes of driving the check engine light came on with an orange triangle on the right. The car was still driving fine and never went into restricted/limp mode as it was before, nor did it stall.
I pulled over and checked the codes and it read p010A and p010F
according to the workshop manual
p010A - MAF unit B
p010f - MAF a/b correlation
I am no longer getting the throttle body codes. Am very confused at this point seeing that the TB codes are gone after cleaning and no more hiccups/stalling. But I am still getting the MAF code (after changing the MAF).
