Real Stage 4 map from Sambo at ByDesign

Hi

I wanted to post about my last few days.
Took a while to take care of a few things on my car and complete my stage 4 upgrade. Car felt pretty strong, but didn't meet my expectations at the track. I have been watching SamboTT at By Design and all of the solid performance they have been getting. After seeing another awesome post on Instagram I hit him up. He responded right away and we talked about my hardware and goals. Told me he is expecting a baby this week but when I told him I wanted to go to the track the next day and had time on the dyne, he was on board, no questions asked. I had a map from him in the morning! Took it to the dyno and already made 60 more torque as well as 42 hp to the wheels. Off the dyno I sent him logs and he sent another map. No major improvement. Send him more logs and he suspected a boost leak. The dyno operator could hear an exhaust leak also. Sam told me the car seemed OK but wasn't responding to more. Not much time left and I wanted to go to a private event at the track so we stopped. The car feels so much better and faster. Anyway, on to the track event...

First pass on 103 octane and the first base tune I got a 10.1 at 137 mph on the stock Perelli tires! My 60 foot was 1.55 which i was impressed with, but Steve did even better with a 1.49. I wonder what the car would do if he drove it, lol.
I did not touch the tires or anything. Second run my boost hose blew off.
I was very frustrated because it was just getting cooler and everyone was getting faster. I think I had 9 seconds in sight even on the base map on the crappy PZeros!

Getting everything fixed now and will send Sambo more data logs. Goal is to have a 9 second car daily driver with no meth. He thinks we can do it. Thanks for your help brother and good luck with the baby!

Nice man. Are those "peek-a-blue" ADV.1 wheels? I like the minimalist emblem - throwback look to the previous generation cars.

Yes, they are peek-a-blue, brushed and clear coated but not ADV1's...they are Strasse Forged SV1's.

Thanks! It was a private rental ( only 19 cars) and the track was prepped really, really good...i mean it was the only run i had because of that stupid hose coming off and there was no spin, just squat and shoot, lol.Track was very sticky. Cars got actually faster as it got cooler and less humid...i really, really think that i would've gotten into the 9's....for now its a dream...but will be a reality soon

Hey Adrian, thanks for the kind words bud! I am really glad I was able get in right before your dyno session and it was a pleasure working with you. Been watching your build and I'm flattered that you came to me and excited that we were able to put a smile on your face at the track. You know I already put your flame shots in the Stage 4 Beast archives! I think you had a boost leak and there's a exhaust leak that once sorted you should pick up a few MPH. Another nice day of those outstanding track conditions and you are in. Get me more logs once it's picked up and sorted. If you are on the dyno and I'm catching a baby I know my awesome friends at Cobb have our back! Mitch is already up to speed.

We will get you the magic 9!

Good deal brotha.

Goodness, if the track was biting that well for you guys and ambient temp was favorable then yes, you could have went home with a 9sec slip.

Darn it, maybe next time; especially after you address the leak(s).

Thanks,
E-Gear

Believe it or not, the stock Pirelli's are not as bad as many would think.

The key is: proper front & rear cold psi...not too little or not too much.

Thanks,

Yo bro!
They aren't bad if you know what you are doing as I know you do . But... from what I've seen they are basically useless for launching past tune/exhaust. Once you get intercoolers and corresponding tune from your tuner of choice, the additional torque in those files turns those Pirelli's into ice skates. (you'll see what I mean). That is why I was so shocked to see 10.1 with a 1.55 60' on stage 4. My hunch, is that with his boost/exhaust leak he didn't leave as hard as he normally would have and that's why he was able to cut a good 60' and ET on those tires. MPH definitely down a few mph as you can see so the power wasn't all there. We'll see soon enough when he gets sorted and back out there.

Btw try and see how the techs fix the boost leak in case that happens again, you can fix it yourself with the right tools. My tech showed me where to look and it's already saved me once. I was also able to help a friend as well recently at lime rock

Yeah, I watched and learned and bought the correct tools. It saved me an afternoon at COTA. Mine came loose on my last COTA event on the run before lunch and I was able to reattach it during lunch. Mostly the hose clamp slips but the hose can come loose too. It's harder to replace the hose without help. The hose clamp is a one man job. The trick is to make sure you can feel that the hose is properly seated underneath. It helps to have someone else shine a light in the bay while you poke your hand down there and get it back in place.

Please do let me know if you have any suggestions on how to properly attach it or if there's a specific clamp that works...Thanks!
