Started looking for info/details on changing differential fluid for the PTT.
I plan to do both front & read diff.
Hoping it is as easy as on Cayenne.

From initial peek at the manual, it appears same:
- Lift car and level it
- Open fill hole
- Open drain hole
- Drain oil
- Replace drain plug washer
- Fill new oil until starts leaking out of fill hole
- Close fill hole to torqe
- DONE


I will be doing a DIY for it, so that others can benefit.

Something I need to figure out is the gear oil type.
The OEM oil is Shell Spirax TF 0951.
Parts PET2 shows Part Number 000 043 205 30 for Panamera.
Parts PET shows Part Number 000 043 205 30 for Cayenne as well.

Since members were often using Mobil 1 full synthetic gear oil LS 75W90, I hope someone can chime in to reassure me, it would be fine. Someone with more detailed knowledge of gear oils and applications.

Help me out so I can do a good DIY for front and rear.

Through bit more research, I found cross reference between Shell Spirax gear oil.
Attached links for datasheet to each, took snapshot of properties tables.
Original Porsche PN for differential gear oil is 000 043 205 30 - Shell TF 0951.

Looking at both, I think using the Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic gear oil LS 75W90, will be safe. If anyone can chime in to stop me with reasons, please do. I would hate to learn this lesson expensive way.

So Shell Spirax S6 AXRME 75W90 is equivalent to Shell TF 0951 ? I can't find anywhere data sheet for Shell TF 0951 .....

And when I check Shell TF 0951 it brings to Original Porsche PN 00004330534 ( or interchange PN 00004330118 ) ... very confusing

But as an option for 00004320530 I found Liqui Moly SAE 75W-90 (GL-5)

P.S> very pity that in my country I only find minimum ordering quantity of Mobil Delvac 1 75W90 is 20 Liters
and Shell Spirax S6 AXRME 75W90 not available, only AXME.....

 

Been a while since I dug into this. I have been using this oil with great success for years on the PTT now.
I really do not want to spend time again researching to find the exact cross references. I cannot comment on Moly, I am sure it works (great oil), but I havent researched so you have to be the judge.

I understand 'ciaka', I just did put my collected info in writing to do not lose it ....
and I had only one question, maybe you could remember this:

I mean how did you came to Mobil Delvac 1 75W90 ? I see that it is great oil, but still .....
Is datasheet available somewhere for OEM oils PNs ? Maybe ?

 

I researched all I could find about shell TF 0591. I stumbled upon a cross reference between shell and spirax. I remember looking at the data sheets abd all their values were virtually same. Started looking up spirax. Stumbled upon cross reference between spirax and other oil makers. That's where I found cross reference to delvac. Looked up Dara sheets and their values were almost same too. That's how 8 got to delvac.
it's been years now and I did not keep all my bookmarks over the years. I may still have the delvac spirax cross ref but will have to look for it.

Fantastic write-up! Smart move to do everything through the fill hole. I was looking at the "proper" way to do it, and I was not excited about removing the front axle carrier (presumably to access the drain plug.)
