I think things would go more smoothly for sellers and buyers if there was a requirement for a stated price in the ad.

Personally I hate it when a seller just throws it out there and says "make me an offer"

IMO things would be neater and cleaner with a price up front.

not a bad idea..but having it as a rule will not stop people from doing it anyway...whenever I approve an ad I ask for a price to be stated but I don't know how you force someone who is phishing for a price...bottom line is they are only hurting themselves by possibly loosing potential buyers who might otherwise be interested...

I'm a CO on S2ki and ads without actual prices get zapped. It does make things go more smoothly.

Cool. Thanks for running it up the flagpole. I believe we'll all benefit from the change.

One other thing - perhaps if folks have a 'reserve price' in mind they could post it.

I was involved on this thread today:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post2232619

The thread is called "LOW PRICE for QUICK SALE" and has been posted since 26-Nov-2008, hence two months by my estimation. The thread also states "!!!! I AM WILLING TO ENTERTAIN ALL OFFERS !!!!". I made a bid in good faith, not to be insulting, but because I think it's a fair bid for a nice car in the context of someone who is looking to make a "QUICK SALE" in a severely depressed market.

What I got was a lot of hostile flak. It is my opinion that if someone has a minimum price in mind, they should just be out with it, rather than sniping at good faith bidders who happen to make a bid they find low.

jd, what you did was taken as insulting by the seller and according to one of the forum rules for the classified section you were out of line:

-DO NOT comment about price in someone else's thread.
-If you would like to negotiate the price, do it via PM.
-If you would like to make derogatory remarks, you will receive points.
-Repeated violations will receive a 1 week time out.

I would suggest as a relatively new member that you familiarize yourself with the rules before you criticise other members

Okay. Sorry for breaking the rules, that was certainly not my intent. I will take this offline and PM you.

I think we are going to leave it alone but understand the suggestion.

I think it's over controlling and it's basically fine the way it is...in an imperfect way of course.
