Scenic Route 2 drive through Angeles National Forest

Took a really nice drive today starting from the Glendale end of route 2 through Angeles National Forest. About 60 miles one way to the other end at Big Pines.

Really drove the 997 for the first time through roads it was meant for and put a big smile on my face. Very nice alternative to the malibu canyon run.

They just did a big write up on this in the LA Times yesterday 5/19,apparently they just reopened the road all the way to Wrightwood ,the topic of the story was how it's a huge meeting place for bikers with perfectly banked turns & 60 miles of them.My 1st thought after reading the article was do get some 911's on the road ,someone should set this up .

I'd definitely go again if there was a group drive. I went on Sunday at 5pm and I didn't actually see that many bikers - maybe less than a dozen. Not that many cars were out there either, maybe I got lucky.

Definitely a drive I'd do at my own pace though - there was one 2-3 mile stretch where I really felt uncomfortable with a Vette behind me tailgatting extremely close until I got to the first point I could let him pass.

Not my cars fault - just a speed I wasn't comfortable slinging through those corners vs. what the machine can handle.

Wise decision just to let the other car pass rather than do something you're not comfortable with. Safety first.

I am down to go as well. I use to go up quite a bit, but haven't been up for a couple months. We should organize this sometime soon.

That road is great. Someone should definitely set a date and route and i'm sure we can get a good group going!

I don't know about everyone's schedule but a weekday in the afternoon would probably be the best time to do it. If not, then the weekend in the morning/afternoon. There will be a lot of LAWs (Lance Armstrong Wannabes) out there though.

Did the run this weekend which was a fun ride. Great that the road is open all the way again. I believe a section was closed for about 4 years. The area is heavily patrolled at times so a radar dectector is a must. Do not blast by the larger parking areas, more room for the cops to hide than the little turn outs.
