I've been on this drive the last few years - but havent heard anythng this year - any announcements? It sucks getting up early on the 1st, but it is the first drive/show of the year - and usually has several hundred cars - ?

 

I haven't heard anything about an Ortega Run, but there is the BIG run at TRE and a smaller one is being planned down in San Diego (meeting in Escondido).

 

The Ortega Run is actually called the Tour De Orange - my mistake, I couldn't remember from last year. It's a big variety of cars - and is a decent way to start the year off. I'd prefer the big garage tour (if anyone has details) or something new/different as far as drives go. Here is the info from bench-racing.com

January 1st 2010 The 7th Annual “Tour d’Orange”. Now an Southern California tradition for many and arguably the first car event of the New Year. Meet at the corner of Fisher and Redhill in Costa Mesa. Meet at 8:30 AM, maps at 8:45 AM, DEPART AT 9 AM. There is no formal notice besides this. All cars welcome. Please pass this notice to your respective car clubs and like minded enthusiasts.

 

Anyone going on this run? I was thinking of doing this for my first run ever.

What's the TRE run all about? What's the route, where do you start/finish? Is it posted somewhere?
