If your familiar with Colorado please read.... Last seen at Eric's Bar in Aspen....(then public transit) This young man worked next door to my office here in RI at a local business as a tour guide.... He has gone missing recently. Family is offering 5K for reward and I will personally match that with another 5K if someone offers any leads, tips, info, ideas or other that leads to his safe return.

I know this forum is a pretty connected place with people all over the world. Great for sharing our passion on cars.... Hoping that it may also help in leading to the return of a son, brother and all around nice guy to his family.....

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound good. Per the news tonight:

"George Aldrich was last seen getting off a bus 2 miles outside Aspen on a brutally cold night."

It doesn't make sense why he got off the bus, or where he was going, but the mountains are a very dangerous place in the winter. I hope for the best, but expect the worst, knowing the conditions here.

 

Mick will probably post the update here, too, but a body was apparently found. They're waiting for identification.

Sorry for the late reply all, yes it seems like its over and the worst is the outcome. That said, something does not add up, this area was searched extensively yet 2 weeks later his body appears? Don't like it....

Before concluding something's amiss and that this was anything more than an avoidable mistake and turned into a tragedy due to harsh weather conditions, I think it bears reminding that the searchers were also working in difficult conditions, under time constraints and looking aimlessly for a needle in a haystack. Why he wasn't found during the first pass is certainly worth investigating and understanding, though, at the very least so that it doesn't happen again.

Regardless, it's surely difficult for the family. However, there are far worse ways to go than to fall asleep in the cold. So, I hope they can be comforted by that small consolation.
