Boxster S: do i need to drill sensor holes in performance brake pads??

hey all,

I figured i'd get the quickest response here, its time for new pads

anyways i was debating between the OEM performance pads or the hawk HPS pads. Also, I and wanted to know if either of these required drilling a hole in order to install the factory sensors??

im ordering:
-ATF blue fluid
-ss lines
-new sensors
-new caliper spring clips
-hps or oem performance pads??

I'd appreciate any help, and any opinions of either of these pads and if there's anything else i should be ordering.

thanks!!

Sounds like a PITA to me, Ditch the sensors if you plan on doing allot of tracking it will get old fast.

I was thinking about that. But if I don't use them, it won't throw any codes, correct?

I would just visually check them once and a while. You should get at least 3-5 track days out of a set of stock pads depending on how hard you drive. I highly recommend Porterfeld R4 though, They are perfect for street and track.

No. Just tie off the pad wear sensor off to the side.

Just zip tie the sensors off to the side and use the race pads as they are. If you have any worn out sensors around you can cut the wires and solder them together and make a dummy plug too. Porsche also seels these plugs but I just made my own. BTW, I'd use either Pagid or Performance Friction pads on the Boxster if I was you.

The little cap thingy (I think it's the bleeder cap) at the top of the brake caliper is a handy device to hold your wear sensor. No zip tie needed

Also, since you should be checking pressures and torque during a DE, just add looking at brake pads part of your routine. BE VERY CAREFUL when you have almost no visible pad left - since the INSIDE of the pad might be wearing a little faster. You should take your tire off to check, or just change pads a little early.
