Toyo R888 VS Nitto NT01
#31
the r888's made so much howling noise i couldnt take it, town fair ( i have friends there) took em back and gave me the NT01's but in a 315/235 combo instead of stock sizes, they are not shaved, very grippy on the street (havent hit the track yet) BUT i lost all responsivness and its feeling very disconnected from the road, is that due to tire size being larger ? i have my sways on soft, i will move them to hard tomorrow. . .

fronts 235 rears 275

-Makes more sense now. Those pressures would be too low and would roll over on itself in the higher speeds/loads of road courses. Seems like a good F/R split in sizing and that low of pressure would help get the tires up to temp sooner which is important in autoX. How much camber F/R?

i am running 32 lbs on the street with them, stiffened my sway to full hard in rear, now, the r888's i had in 295 stock size configuration, with the nitto's i went to 315 /235 and its mushyyy !

When I had the R888s they also howled like crazy. And as the tire wore down the sound got only worse, to the point where I couldnt even hear the exhaust over them.
I just ordered a set of Nitto Invos so Im going to try those out and see how they do. They run $700-800 less per set so even if they arent as good it may be worth it in the long run, but I'll report back after May 18th when I've had a chance to put some track time on them.

Couldnt find any Nitto track tires in the correct OEM fitment and I also decided to run street tires because I like hearing them squeal sooner.
Was running the Michelin PS2s and I love them, didnt have a problem chasing down people on slicks, they only gave out midway through some sessions at the Octopus/carousel (whatever you want to call it) at Thunderbolt, slow constant scrubbing turn, other than that they were great.
Otherwise Im back to the Cups or R888s, one are expensive, the other are noisy, would like to have another option.

The 'mushy'ness could be explained by increasing the width from 295 to 315 in the rear. If you list your front and rear wheel width, I would have a better idea of the wheel-tire ratio and can better help explain/pinpoint what the issue is.

I apologize if I didn't clarify what I was asking for.
Can you list the wheel width front and rear (example: 18x8" front and 18x10" rear)

where did you hear this? the engineers at Nitto swear the NT01 has nothing in common with the R888.

Porshenaround - Your tire to wheel sizes look great. Try bumping up the cold pressures a little to improve turn-in.
