First Auto X in a 997
All I can say is "DAM BOYY!!" I have done a Auto X in the 996 and the STi before but the 997 was just wow, WOW! The turn in was so crisp it felt like it was a casual driving experience on the street @ a semi quicker pace. I know this reflected in my times, BUT I definetely x'd in the wrong class, Super Stock instead of Novice. So no trophies w/ SCCA but In my experience braking points are cruicial and it was difficult to get right today because I was babying her a little, No reflection on the car just me. But once I went for a spin with an instructor, became a little more aggressive, dropped my warm psi to proper settings, Thanks Terry!, i dropped my time by 4.36 seconds. WOW! AND it is true you have to have a set of Kochone's to not let go in a porsche and trust it. I did and I can join the club, the PORSCHE MAN CLUB! LOL!
Hmmmm... first auto-x in the 997S today. The car feels like it needs a lot more camber in front. Really pushy on a tight course. I think it'll be better on a faster, more wide open layout.
Perhaps I'm used to my S2000 and the go-kart turn in and neutral to oversteery easy rotation of that car.

lig, you can get right around -1 degree camber out of the front with the stock suspenion set up. That will help a little. I wish I could get around -1.5 to -2 out of the front but that would probably not be the greatest for everyday street driving. With GT3 control arms you can get even more neg camber plus lowering the car on springs will give you a little more camber.
Would GT3 control arms in the front be a big big deal or just a moderate expensive improvement. I know for the rear the control arms from TRG are phenominal! I have driven a 996 prepped by Midwest Eurosports up in Chicago with them installed, stock suspension ride height and about -3 in the rear and -1.0 in the front. Huge difference in Jitteryness and turn in felt like it was on coilovers. A little much for the street I think..

great info - thanks for that. the 997 isn't my daily so i don't mind running a lot of camber.
right now on my very well behaved S2000 I'm running -1.7F and -2.6R and it works beautifully.
I'm thinking PSS9s for lowering as the ride in this thing is amazing for normal street driving as it is.
BTW - I'm a weekend warrior musician - saxophones. I gig ~ 1x/month these days.
Enough to keep the chops up but not too much so the wifey doesn't mind.

I think he meant runs @ a Auto X a month man. Cool job being a musician thought. U got skillz! I used to play Piano for 14 years until I broke my wrist 2x, arm 1x, collar bone 1x, thumb 1x almost 2x. Needless to say I cant play anymore w/out my wrist locking up. BUT at an autox w/ SCCA 4 runs in 1 heat and work 1 heat. Those are the rules. Normaly I would like to try to get in at least 2x a month but my schedule wont allow. I rather do track events DE's w/ PCA, or run with PBOC down here in FL to the local tracks.
