HRE question

Can any HRE experts break down the differences between the C90 and 590RS. Of course 2 extra spokes and a stepped lip, I also know the spokes are machined differently for the C90 (For lightness). Does the C90 come standard with Titanium fasteners or are they an option?

The C90 is part of our Comp Series, featuring titanium hardware as a standard. Since it is part of our Comp Series and engineered for performance in mind, it is one of the lightest wheels we offer next to the R40 Series.

The 590RS is designed for a street wheel with performance. With that in mind, it is a great wheel, but designed as a street wheel that has performance aspects.

If you are looking for a good looking street wheel. If your looking for a wheel that is lightweight and you'll be hitting up track events on a regular basis, you should go with the C90. Both wheels are very capable for a street wheel.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

Is the C90 available in all the same sizes (and backspacing) as the 590RS?

And are you saying the 590RS is not appropriate for the track due to safety concerns or that the lightness of the C90 makes it a better performer. The other thread shows some pretty darn High performance cars with 590RS wheels (and P40). I would expect most of them do more than street duty.

Thanks for the clarification.

There are two very different engineering thoughts behind the two series. Put very simply, the 590RS Series is a VERY high performance street wheel that is more than competent for occasional track days. These wheels and their predecessors have made numerous runs above 240MPH at events such as the Texas Mile. However, if you were mounting slicks on a Porsche GT3RS and seeing more than the occasional track day, I would recommend you look at our Comp90 Series.

The Comp90 Series is engineered as a track wheel that can also be driven on the street. It is designed to reduce rotational inertia by reducing weight from the outside of the wheel. This is the reason for the titanium hardware and the step lip design. They are also engineered to handle the increased lateral loads that are created when using road race tires.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me and we can discuss how you are using your vehicle and I will give you my recommendation.

You pretty much answered my question other than sizing.

This is for the FGT. The Z8 has had HRE 547s from day one.

The FGT will see the occasional track day and I am contemplating a future run at the Mojave mile where I would expect 210+ speeds.

I was hoping to get the Humagen/HRE FGT wheel but I guess that is discontinued and may not show up on a different centerpiece.

I must say Guy from HRE helped me with my decision a while back when I was putting Comp series wheels on my car, and helped me make a great decision, even though I dont track my cars, I went with the C97's for my 997 C4S drop, and with my turbo I went with the c95's, both amazing wheels, and very durable, and I live in NY, but no problems with these wheels, go for the Comp series....my .02 cents
