.

All in all it is a Nissan. Enough said. I do really question the validity of that story though seeing as they say "The 911 Turbo comes in at about $100,000, which is a good value for such a stupendous car, but the GT-R will cost about $40,000 less." Apparently we all paid way too much for our cars. Just my .02.

since this is a supercar class, shouldn't the GT-R be compared to the CGT or similar cars? I mean its like someone suping up a honda to say its faster than a porsche or in this case Nissan is doing. But time will tell with this new car and Porsche keeps their spot on top

that article reminds me of those japanese car vids that will have a gallardo, a f430, a 997tt and a nsx and they always have the nsx comming in first.... go figure..

To bad from what i have been reading , that it wont be nearly as moddible as the previous GTR's.

You guys are saying "Its only a Nissan"....Most enthusiasts wont give a **** about the car being a Nissan...Everyone knows what a Skyline is and everyone knows how great of a car it is from the R32's to these new ones, obviously they are very well respected cars.

The only thing Im seeing from everyone's post is hate or jealousy just because a magezine article says its better than a Porsche.

Unlike most, I think the GT-R is great news for Porsche. You're comparing a car that isn't out yet against one that's been available for nearly a year and a half.

I have no doubt that with the next revision of the 911, Porsche will raise the bar again.

I like it but won't buy a sports car without a clutch pedal.

Those who have seen the GT-R in person think it is a beautiful car. Pictures do not convey its visual appeal. Also, the 911 has never been considered a good looking car. It is a master piece of evolution but beyond that it does not get attention.

More importantly, the performance of the GT-R is far beyond the 997TT. As the article indicated, it makes the 997TT look dated and old which it is.

The good news is Porsche will have to change it corporate philosophy of incremental change in styling, engineering and performance to keep up with the competition.

Putting the 997TT aside for the moment, ask yourself this; given the price of the GT-R why would anyone buy a 911? Most buy the 911 because of the performance/price ratio. The GT-R obliterates the 911 advantage in this crucial category.

Agreed completly...Porsche is just going to make the 911T even better than it already is if they feel like the skyline is a threat...A little competition is a good thing for customers like ourselves!

I love the GTR. I thought a few times about saving a ton of $$ and getting similar performance vs. my TT order but then you start thinking.....a heavily modded Evo can hang, a Mustang Shelby with mods can hang and then it becomes quite clear, Im loving the Porsche for much more than the performance stats which frankly non of the other cars for less can match.

I think the GT-R is a great car, but I'd never cross shop them or consider replacing a 911 with it. I'd also buy a Z06 and an M5 before even looking at the GT-R. So until my dream of becoming a car collector happens, I'll stick with my Porsche

I'm curious to see what will happen in the aftermarket arena. We all know how Porsche feels about modifications to their engine. We also know how bullet proof the 3.6L engine is...it's capable to taking a fair amount of boost and pushing HP limits without internal rebuilds.

I'd like to see what Nissan does about restricting modifications. Are they going to deny warranties? Are they going to lock out the ECU? I have to believe the 3.8L engine their using can handle more boost...but at what limits?
