why does my car seem slow off the line?

ok now im having a real problem

my car has gotten slower ... i cant explain it

it feels like everything kicks is at 4000 rpm, but it takes like an hour to get there.

what can i do to the car thats not too crazy, and is still pretty much stock

will ecu programming give me the low end bump im looking for?

i dont have the x50 package, and i dont plan on changing the turbos ... so i dont want to do something that will mess up the car.

thanks in advance

Mr. zarabi, you must learn how to launch your coche. but an ecu would surely help. btw where are the photo's of your car.

You have the first symptoms of modaholism. That's how it
starts...

Seriously though, check your boost. Get someone to look
at what your boost meter says, while you floor it from
2000rpm to 4000rpm. If it doesn't get to .8 bar, maybe you
have a boost leak. If you haven't replaced your diverter valves,
do that.

perhaps its that new exhaust you put on. I am sure you know that an exhaust is the most important thing on a turbocharged car.

4th pics could be found here

I have exactly the same problem with my car (stock '03 996TT)and it happened right after I installed an aftermarket exhaust.

The boost does not kick in until 4K rpms, then from 4K on up it goes like crazy and I am gettin .8 bar peaks. Also the boost on the gauge is not increasing linearly sometimes going from 0-.4-.8, other times from 0-.8. I am not seeing the .8 bar peaks unless I am over 4K rpms. I have a vacuum test scheduled for Friday to see if the DV's are leaking. At this point I don't know if this is a common occurence with aftermarket exhausts that are not chipped or something else.

do u have any vacuum leaks, ? coz a simple thing like a vacuum leak can cause havoc to a turbocharged car...

also learning how to launch your "coche" will greatly improve the accelaration of your car.. one thing to remember try to keep the rpms, in the sweet spot of the rpms... and to get the max hp and speed of the car shift at the tip of the car's "bell curve" ...

i hoep this helps and yes we need better pics of your car:

Launching fast and smooth with the TT's zero-feedback-clutch and short-legged 1st is a miserable exercise. Better to just roll it out of the gate and then go, imo.

Should've gotten the Tip. You can floor it next to the M3's without worrying about stalling.

Actually the tt is very good off the line.

Bring the car to a stop

Keep it in first with clutch in

Bring the hand brake on

Rev the car to 5krpm and bring the clutch up till it starts to bite.

Dump the clutch, release the handbrake and give max throttle a

result is head snapping accleration

all the best

have you had a leak test? do you think the exhaust is the culprit?

otherwise, how do you like the new exhaust?

I find it's the "starts to bite" part that's hard to feel. Too much bite too soon and well...

Reving to 5k rpm at a stop light also gives too much warning to other party and gets too much unwanted attention.
Besides, you don't want to do that every light.

I prefer to try and get a perfect timing on clutch engagement with a bit of slippage, and proportionate throttle together to get a smooth and swift launch.
