Sorry, but your assumption is just that ... an assumption....
I agree that a $700 program is not something I would EVER put in my car...
But to assume it's the ECu is somewhat farfetched.
Maybe yo drove too hard, too lean ... for too long.... maybe you had too much boost etc.... anything can happen... for any number of reasons....
