Just added an F40 to the garage - a few pics
I am in the same camp as you Pel as far as keeping the car as close to stock as possible. The only thing that I couldn't live with was the F40s OEM exhaust. By going to LM straight pipes not only did I save substantial weight but the exhaust sounds are very much improved!. Just a thought for you.

Awesome ride. A friend of mine, his uncle in San Francisco has one with ~1200 miles on it. My feet barely fit in the pedal footwell. Absolutly amazing cars. Enjoy your new ride!
Thank you for elaborating now that you've driven both thoroughly whats your take on the noise, whats the best sound track the Carrera GT or is it the F40 ?
In relation to your reply, I always thought the CGT shifter/gearbox position is quiet high, I have never driven one or been inside but I guess I got this assumption from looking at the pictures.

On the other hand, several other CGT and F40 owners have put straight pipes on their cars so I'd leave it to them to opine in comparing the two cars.
Also, as the attached photo shows, the exhaust system on the CGT is nicely tucked up inside the body work with a nicely functional carbon fiber diffuser/full belly pan below that. The F40 is more vestigial diffuser, circa 1987. I doubt it does much...
Congrats, and thank you for sharing.
Amazing car. Thank you for driving it. Machines are nothing but dead weight when they are not used...an F40 deserves to live!
I love how rudimentary this car is, for me, it's how extreme cars should be. Singular in purpose, and very good at it.
I saw one in person a few years back and the experience really burned into my brain. The interior shocked me with it's simplicity, and really struck a chord in me.
Had Tubi exhaust. If I wore panties, they would have fell off of their own accord when the F40 ripped off down the road.
Quite a different impression than the Enzo I saw doddling down the highway at 75mph, the owner chatting away on a bluetooth headset, like he was driving a Lexus. Technology is making cars faster, and more boring.
