Question Anyone have info in removing 997 gauge needles?

So I have a beautiful set of light silver gauge faces (OEM) and have had them sitting here for almost a year.. I cannot find info anywhere on how to safely remove the needles. Pulling the gauge assembly / opening the gauges is no prob- But I do not want to "experiment" with taking off the needles, and there is no clear indication of how they come off.

I have "heard" that you are supposed to turn the needle counter-clockwise and then pull forward, and re-installing is the opposite. But I am unable to verify the info.

Anyone?

Can't speak for a 997 but would recommend having a professional do it for you. On a 996 they pull straight up however, have a high prob of inner shaft breaking rendering gauge useless. Gauge is not sold separately, entire pod only at the price of $1,800. If play it safe and have it professionally done, if they break the are liable.
Ask me how I know...

Thanks D! 996 is different than 997 unfortunately, I've done 996 needles a couple of times. There is one gauge place here in LA that usually charges $100 or so to swap gauge faces, but as soon as they find out you have a pcar the price goes up to $300...

If I have to send it in I will, but it's just killing me because this is an otherwise easy DIY- Just missing one piece of vital info!

I dunno brah- I've seen some pretty cheesy / ricey looking ones on ebay but I would steer clear of them. I got massively lucky and scored a real OEM set of faces from an enthusiast in Germany. Brand new set just removed from a totalled 997. The seller tried to explain to me how to remove the needles but his english was horrible and my German is about the extent of a few foul words..

I don't know if the dealer sells just the set of faces- I think they only come in the assembled gauge pod as ordered from the factory.

Actually, the overlays listed below are very good. Only downside is they are not 100% factory looking since they have the aftermarket brand name on them, but the quality is very high / as good as OEM. I've seen them installed on a 996.

These are for manual 997 and turbo. I'll give a better price for these OEM gauges included shipping, than the the Ebay variant.

You have to contact them for the pdf catalog- the gauge faces look 100% OEM, very nice!
