1990 951S with a need of some upgrades...

Good evening

I own a 1990 951 (late model with 968 wing, Desing 90's, etc.), and I'm very happy and satisfied with the car, but I feel the suspension is too soft and I'm not confortable in fast turns, etc.

The car has lots of power, and I'm not planning major engine upgrades for now. The main reason because I want to upgrade the suspension is that I think the car runs more that it handles. For example, I feel safer with my old 924 than with the 951.

Any ideas about upgrading the ride? Sway bars, suspension, rods, etc. I'm completely a newbie about this....

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the M030 F/R swaybars, 30mm front, 19mm rear, with delrin bushings?

If turns are what bothers you I agree with Grant, Ihave 2 951's in my collection one is mild and one is wild. Sway bars will keep the car from leaning, but if oversteer is what is scaring you then soften the front shocks on your adjustable koni's and you will increase understeer. The flat adjuster on top your shocks should be turned counter clockwise until it stops at full stop and then adjust them (clockwise)harder as you wish.

Contact Karl Poeltl of Racer's Edge (865-862-5270). He designs suspension upgrades for 944's and is the fastest 944 racer in the U.S. With the proper set up, you will embarass many of your fellow 6speeders for a fraction of what they have invested in their car.
