Looking at S5 cabrio
Hello all, first post here. I'm looking at an S5/A5 convertible.
I'm looking for input from Audi owners - fun and well made? A rival dealer told me that Audi does not maintain resell very well. I take that with a grain of salt and will go investigation but do you guys think that is true compared to the other two marques?
TIA,
Tony

I think today with very few exceptions, cars just don't hold there value no matter who makes it. You will find that with Audi the build quality is fantastic and the interiors are arguably the best in the business. In my opinion you will not regret either the S5 or the A5 convertible....I would go for the S5 if were you :-)
I'd prefer an S5 honestly but they said that may take six months to get and I'm not that patient. Thanks for the response.

the rival dealer is correct, historically. audi was plagued by a number of build/quality issues in the past. i'm not sure where they are as far as overall quality now, but their cars still suffer from lower resale vs bmw/merc.
but...
the s5 seems to be the exception in regards to resale. it's extremely difficult to find one at bargain prices.

S5's seem to be holding value very well due to a limited amount actually available. I love the car. Not knocking BMW/Mercedes at all because they make great cars as well...but you don't see an S5 on every street corner.
Just saw the new convertible and didn't realize they are going to 6 turbo? Car looked great!
IMO V8 was smooth and sounded great. I am sure the car will be quick but what about sound and the lag might get old. Anyone driven with new engine?

Coming from a v-8 owner (b7 s4) the new v-6 will suprise you. I test drove a new s4 the other day and gotta say that I was very suprised. No lag and very good bottom end. For those that dont know the sc supposedly produces several more pounds of boost than is used and has lots on tap. Thats how MTM and others have used software (piggiebacked) only and produced well over 400 horsepower. The boost is already on tap just not used. (vented to have that flat power curve)
depreciation of almost any $50K plus new car is going to be a killer. Wait a year and pick up a CPO'd one and save a bunch of money
I picked up my 06 S4 avant in 2007. CPO'd. Price was $20K off what they were new. (low $40's) and I think I could probably get around $30K to $34K for it easy.

I haven't seen any of the statistics but I am always looking at used cars and my seat of the pants opinion is that Audi's are holding their value as well as any car over the past few years. S5's in particular but also S6's. I bet the A6 is hoding its value much better than the BMW 5 series for instance.
