I want to be like Ben!
I want to be like Ben!
That will never be..
after reading all of the amazing posts about an amazing man I realize that I never could live up to his standards. But reflecting on his online life and incredible reputation has caused me to reflect about about my own life all this week.
Ben and I traded many emails about our Carrera GTs. Although I got mine several months before he did, it wasn't long before he had more miles and more experience with the C-GT than I did. As many of you have posted Ben was always generous with his time and more than willing to "share" with everyone.
Yesterday, in my hometown there was a car show with about 150 cars. I have never particpated in a carshow before, I always thought I was too busy...but I decided I wanted to be just a little bit more like Ben. So I took out my Carrera GT and from 9:00 in the morning till about 4:00 I shared it with everyone. It was simply amazing and it felt great. I let children sit in the car and I offered rides to many. There must have been 100 pictures taken of it. All day long I answered questions about the Porsche Supercar and I heard story after story about how they have dreamed about them from magazine articles. And most people said I never thought I 'd see one of these in this town. (High end cars are not common in our town) People told me they were going past the car show and stopped specifically because they saw the C-GT.
I also had several people come up to me throughout the day and tell me about the online stories about the Carrera GT crash this week. I said yes I am aware of it. Sadly, it was my friend Ben!
Although I am seriously sunburned today, I am so glad I was able to share it with so many people. It truly was very rewarding for me and I know everyone enjoyed it and I got to meet so many great folks.
Ben, here's to you and I hope we can all be just a little bit better because of your life.
RIP
Chuck

Chuck that is awesome!!! That is exactly what Ben did.
I've always told people to try and be around people you want to be like. Any chance I got to be around Ben, I took it!
He was the best of us. I can only hope to have 1% of his impact on the world.

Chuck, that was very nice of you. I always felt Ben enjoyed sharing his car with others even more than he enjoyed driving it.

Well done. On the west coast, this stuff is a dime a dozen. In sleepy IN, it isn't. You made a lot of people's days.
