Found a slant nose, need opinions

Hey there, I'm new to the forum (first post and I have a question. I live in Chicago and was driving through one of the suburbs here and low and behold a Porsche slant nose caught my eye in a local dealership of used cars! Its got the wale-tale, I'm sure its not a turbo. I haven't got a good look at it, but its some kind of carrera I think, but i'm not sure if its one of those California fakes. I wanted to know what you all thought about price and what I should offer. Its a funky brown cream color or something. I've never seen that color before, but im not picky. Thanks for the info, I'll post a pic soon!

Hi Adam, welcome to 6speed. The only factory slantnose cars built were 930's (Turbos). However, Porsche had the Turbo "look" option for regular Carerras from '84-89. So I am guessing the one you found is someone's creation. If you like it, who cares if it’s not real, buy it and drive the heck out of it.

I can’t help you with a price without seeing some photos, mileage, year, etc. Best of luck!

Thank You! I really like it here!

I agree about the car, I think it is someone's creation and I really like it. The reason I ask is so that if it does end up being someone's "creation" then I'll be able to get it for a lot less

definately a cool look. Be wary though, some can be hack jobs. I think there is a decent thread about a similar car somewhere in the 911 section I'll see if I can find you a link.

That looks very similar to a slant-nose Turbo that came to a few of our driving schools at Road America 5-6 years ago. The owner was from the Chicago area.

Well ive heard and am wary of the hack jobs, I read that in a book and now have a list of pointers to look for to see if its fake. I almost do hope so cause it will be cheaper for me haha. Running 2 businesses while attending tech school is getting to be a pain, but if I can get ahold of that car (real or not) I'll be very very very very happy

Thanks for the thread link dferg476! I'll try to get better pictures tonight as well.

EDIT: ok I got pictures and naturally can't find my camera cord to upload them so I'll get them posted as soon as I can. I have confirmed it is real and has all the right stuff. It has as far as I could tell about 8877 miles on it, theres a few bits missing like the drivers side headlight washer nozzle is missing, as well as the cut outs below the air scoops for the engine. How much do you think I should offer? I'll get the pics up soon so you can see more. Thanks!!

If it is a real slantnose ( which it seems to be ), it appears to have had a rough life. This seems unusual to me considering how much the M505 option was new and that these cars don't often fall into unsympathetic hands. Proceed with caution!!!

If it is the same car from that driving course I'm sure its seen some better days. Luckily i'm a professional porsche technician so i can fix it. Its a start and because of its wear and tear, and the fact that it is blatantly disregarded by being left out in the weather here, ill be able to talk the price way down. Once the dealer opens that is, or they have a phone number. Thanks for the help everyone!

It definitely can be a great project car especially since your a tech. Good luck in you acquisition. You should get a hell of a deal. Lowball them and get as much leverage as you can.
