911 over M3...

So I went to a dealer today intending to check out an M3 and just for fun sat in an '02 911 C2 convertible. Wow, very nice.

But now I have a dilemma. I'm not sure where to start when researching the Porsche. Not a bad dilemma, I know.

My question: what 911 would you buy if your budget was $25-30K?

Thanks!

Get a Porsche. Bimmers are everywhere you look at least from what I see. I was eyeing a 540i but opted for 01 996 instead and man was it the right choice.

I had the same dilemma a month ago and since i dont have kids i went for a 996 C4s, cause of the purest sport feelling, ignoring the higher cost mentainance

Where I live, Porsche are seen at every corner as much as BMW.

Both over nice but it really depends on if its a DD or weekend car. I think the M3 is a bit more practical as a DD over the porsche.

my daily driver right now is an e46 M3, compared to my 996, the m3 has way more options, nicer interior, and while I have never raced them the M3 seems a bit faster in a straight line. but if given the choice I would go with the 996, I like the feel of the car much better, its simple, and has a much better sound.

e46 m3 is a gorgeous car, 996 is very nice aswell.. i vote save a little more and get a 996TT... either way both sound amazing with an uncorked exhaust...
