944S Restoration

I picked up a 1987 944S this year. I started my search looking for something to sort for the track, but I found an this one with only 87K miles. It's in excellent condition, so I'm inclined now to restore it up to concourse condition. Any suggestions on resources, links or other insights to get me started?

Very nice. I too have a 944, '84, that's been our shop loaner car. My goal this year is to bring her back to life. New interior, get all the dents pulled out, wheels, etc. I'll be following this thread to get tips from you. There's a great upholstery place down in Escondido that specializes in Porsches. Congrats and looks like you found a good example. First order of business: Make sure timing belt/water pump has been done recently and tensioner pads.

eBay is a great source for cheap parts. I used upholstery shop to fix a pop seam instead of recovering them.

Update

Well, it has a new timing belt and water pump. Moving slowly, but have replaced the wheels and tires with a set from a Boxter. You can see the before and afters below. I think a modern set of wheels makes a dramatic effect...the car looks quite modern now. I debated classic Fuchs, which I like, but these were a third the cost...and I like how they dress it up.

That turned out great mdking1231! Love the wheels. I do like the Fuchs, but for the price point of the Boxster wheels, I think you made a great choice.
