id wait on the specs, but 450hp, lightweight, and mclaren, could be interesting.
that being said, isn't that rendering based off of a cayman?

Let's talk about the Cayman for a moment . The new Boxster/Cayman is so balanced that it almost seems as though Porsche had to deliberately tame it from potentially detracting 911 sales . The hypothetical of a supercar Cayman has been discussed quite often but with the 911 hanging on to it's iconic status it would be a huge move for Porsche to attempt .
So enter Mclaren .. what if they try ?
We'll just have to wait and see what they come up with.

That's really interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Porsche has somewhat of a problem with the 911. The design is 50years old, it is still one of the best looking sports car, still one of the best performance cars, but I think I'm not alone feeling that Porsche is slowly losing the edge against its competition.
I wonder how much bigger and powerful they can make the flat-6. The thing is, Ferrari, Lamborghini and now McLaren, don't have to have a particular design. They can pretty much built what they feel will be the best sports car. They have the luxury of having more cylinders to their engines. Being mid-engined they have pretty much the best lay out too.
Porsche is stuck making flat-6 rear engined 911s forever. They can't make a V8 mid-engined 911. So what are their options? From what I see:
-They can keep pushing the flat-6/rear engine design to its absolute limit.
-They can introduce a new design to compete against the Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren. Something like a super 911, but not super exotic like the 918. It could be.. a SuperCayman.
I think we all know what Porsche will do, they'll just push the flat6/rear engine further down the rabbit hole. But like many others I wonder what a SuperCayman would be like. Imagine a Cayman GT3RS 4.0. That's would be something I'd like to see!

Totally right.
But if Porsche wanted to make a badass mid-engined car they could make one in a heartbeat. They won't.
While they refuse to cannibalize the sales from the 911, other car makers have no problem doing it. If you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will. In that case, it's the McLaren P13.
Imagine a Cayman styled like a mini 918 with a 500hp Metzger engine!
