Ready for Winter

I mounted my winter wheel and tire set on my TT over the weekend. I decided to go with HRE FF01s with Michelin Pilot Alpins. Huge props to John and Dave at Wheel Enhancement, who offered excellent guidance, very competitive pricing and fantastic customer service. They really know the 991 and the products they sell. The fitment is great and (predictably) the car feels so much more planted in the cooler temps. Many thanks also to 6speed user enzom who offered valuable guidance and advice in my quest for a proper winter wheel set. Some pics attached.

You'll really enjoy the car in snow if you get out there & explore!
The wheels look great. The black works well with the agate grey.

Nice Wheels!

I went with the same setup on my Turbo S. As I noted in another post some 20" rims still do not clear the PCCB calipers, but the HRE FF01s do. Next year I am going to paint the heads of my lug bolts matte black!

Got snow?

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I'm very pleased with the set-up, especially the way the flat black rims work on the Agate. Greg @ HRE, I'll email more pics when I get a chance to clean the car and take some more pics. PMNewton, I hear you . . . bear in mind that these are flow form wheels, which are substantially less expensive than the HRE bespoke forged wheels.

HRE FF01 with Michelin Pilot Alpin 4 winter tire setup

You cannot expect me to park my GT Silver Turbo S for six months! The Flow Forms were a good aesthetic match and were about $5,000 less per set than the forged aluminum wheels. The tires have performed extremely well although most of the time the roads have been cleared before I am back on them. The folks at Imola Motorsports in Plymouth, MN did a fantastic job!

Here are a few photos to please the HRE folks. Photos sell wheels, right Greg? Now about those matte black lug bolts...

Freshly installed and ready for winter

Winter is not so bad! My Cayenne (background) is also mounted with Michelin Alpin snow tires

On a chilly 16 deg. F. day. Colder is better for the turbo intercoolers and it keeps everything frozen so the roads stay dry.

No kidding. Those 410mm calipers are BEASTS to get over without hitting anything. The brakes also have a huge dust shield that you have to watch out for.

Hey guys, it's "play with your toys and save your money" and not "save your toys and play with your money." Anyway, more power to you and I guess next summer will be that much more meaningful when your behind the wheel of your TTS again!

Cheers,

The snow is a perfect depth for cruising across the lake

Oooh, these tires do slip on the icy snow pack!

...back to the beach parking lot!
