Some mods while waiting for winter to end

Since there is too much snow in NE to drive my TT, I decided to use the downtime to get a few mods installed. After using (or more accurately not using) a V1 in my old car, I decided to get a Bel STiR Plus and Anti-laser Priority set up.

I didn't have the smoker's package but bought the retrofit kit, which the installer fabricated an insert for the control panels. Since I didn't have the extra 12V, I am not missing it and like the ability to hide it away. The other unit for the Bel is in the rearview mirror.

I'm using a Skene Design front plate bracket. No holes in front of bumper and I give law enforcement one less reason to look at the car.

Hopefully the snow will end someday.

Wow that looks great. Who did the install if you don't mind me asking.
And who sells the smoking retro fit kit? Very clean looking and hidden.

Sound in Motion in Allston did the install. They are very easy to work with and meticulous.

I got the part from the dealer's part department. You can also get it from Suncoast.

If you don't already have the smoker's package, you would have to find a wire to power the outlet if you want it. I didn't want/need it but wanted the lid to hide the hardware away when I park.

Great Install!

In your second photo of the new ashtray with the lid is that the ALP control module below the Bell module and was it necessary to have this module accessible as well? I am thinking about installing the same system in my '15 TTS. I, too, do not have the smoking package but I would get the ashtray for the same purpose. It is pricey at ~$200 but it looks worth it IMHO.

It's nice to have as the mute button is accessible and you can turn the system on/off from there.

I think it would look good without the lid but I wanted to have the option to be able to hide everything from view. Once you close the lid, there is nothing visible anywhere in the interior. You can dim or turn off the Bel unit in the mirror so that there is really no evidence that the system is in the car.

I didn't order the smoking package initially because I wanted a little tray. However when I decided to put in this system, I decided to let the tray go (I still have it). This way I can put the car back to OEM and keep the fabricated smoker's package piece if I sell the car someday.

Than you for your informative post. Too bad you may have extra time on your hands with all the snow in Boston. You guys are tough for sure. Amazing baseball spring training starts soon.
