I think the 991 platform is as quick if not quicker than the 997.2 Adam did demolish me off the start, but on both our runs I was gaining on him and finished with higher trap speeds. I know he was having issues with his race tune but he also has meth. i think mod for mod my 991 will beat a 997.2 even with these tiny turbos Porsche decided to screw us with.
I Agree and very savy comment. This Sat @ Redlist we will define the current state of 991 big Turbo dominion along with any tuners various stage of tune that actually performs. I have a feeling we may see another revision to stage 2++! Lol
I really can't wait to see GIAC Stage 2+ and CObb stage 3 just kill it out there! We plan to shake down a couple little turbo cars that day too. See what we get!

Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. Wish I could be there.

Having spent a lot of time in both 997.2's and 991's in various levels of tunes, I tend to agree. The 997.2's have a certain "savage" feeling when modified, whereas the 991's seem to feel a bit smoother and more poised. That smoothness comes from the subtle changes to the drivetrain, and translate to a bit more speed it seems. It can be a bit deceiving when you drive the 991 turbo because most people are used to cars feeling a bit more "raw" when they're SO DAMN fast.

Long always have some issues with the car when is racing someone lol... I have both and I know for sure the 991 is faster with same mods.
I think we have all sort of agreed to sign a peace treaty guys. We all are just trying to have a good time and some of us are more passionate than others as well as at different moments. Scott posted another not so useful, wacky greatest hits video but I think he truly didn't know what was up with that car. And I know your passion spiked a little bit because you were away for too long busy with your event LOL! We can have some fun competition next week but I would really hate to see it spiral out of control again. Even though there is been some public demand lately for more drama haha
As long as we keep trash talk and misinformation to a minimum it's all good times.
Hey bud! Did you get your car?
We haven't been able to get one on the track yet and we are still tinkering with the edge. Anybody want to take bets?
Just got it yesterday, Im about to start a thread. My mind is blown! Stage 4 might be coming prior to winter... Blizzaks and I should be ok in a Canadian winter... Right?!

Of course I had no idea the red car was not performing to its potential. Of course as I wrote at the time of the video, the turbo upgrade was in its infancy and once the teething stage is over I am sure it will be a lot faster -- which is what I expect to occur at the Redline event.
The performance depicted in its these videos is neither "wacky" nor not the fault of the GoPro taking the video or the person posting the video. It is the result and consequence of cars being put out in public events that have not been fully shaken down. I am not sure why tuners do that but that is their choice. And if tuners do that, attempting to shoot the messenger is self-defeating.
If I were a tuner I would never put a car out at a public event with brand new mods that had not been fully shaken down. Poor performances shake confidence among we owners.
As many of your know I specialize in business and commercial litigation and have for 20 years. I would never ever walk into a courtroom without being completely and totally prepared. And as a result, I have never lost a case I have tried. Preparation is the key to success and instilling confidence in your clients. If I walked into a courtroom or deposition room unprepared I would not have a career. Or clients.
That is why putting a well tested, shaken down car out there for a public event is magic. For example, Nigel's car performed fantastically at ShiftS3ctor and that reflected very well on the Cobb/ByDesign team and I am sure it helped to sell the Stage 3 mods. Just as Mark Blackwell's breaking the stock turbos, no meth 991 Turbo/Turbo S quarter mile record at 10.2 seconds reflected well on GIAC and Champion and I am sure it moved some Champion intercoolers and GIAC Stage 2+.
I am sure the red car was worked on and fixed and is now a lot faster. With a turbo upgrade properly functioning The red car should end up much faster than Longboarder's very fast 997.2 which has the stock turbos.
