TTS Stock Exhaust Back Pressure

I am really appreciating my TTS Cab stock exhaust thus far. I came from a GT-R which has zero exhaust note. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I got to hear the note of the factory exhaust on my Turbo S. I assumed that all turbo cars would have a weak exhaust sound after my GT-R. But, I am pleasantly surprised at the range of my TTS. I notice a lot of the exhaust note seems to come alive under spirited driving and then of coarse the back pressure. I think that's what it is. When say I am in a low gear and let off the gas, all of the sudden I get that "Bruurp, Guurgel, Bruurp" kind of sound. I have read on these forums that the stock back pressure sound may be taking away some of my horsepower? I'm not sure what to think. This car to me is scary fast. I can't imagine much more power, but I am open minded and would not be against a bit more power. How are the aftermarket exhaust compared to this stock exhaust?

So nice to hear how much you are enjoying the car! It's a slippery slope my friend

You can definitely gain performance with a sport exhaust but not too much without tuning. There is data I can dig up. Stage two packages with exhaust filter and tune run really strong and totally transform the car while maintaining all of its personalities. That said, you could try an exhaust first until you get an itch for more. My .02 is that you would love the crisp response, smoother power and awesome sound from an exhaust system. If it makes you nervous and any way I am available to help you out with a 100% guarantee to give you confidence and make sure you're happy

Actually the sound you are speaking about is 100% the ECU and not the exhaust. Its creating the throttle lift burble with tuning. It honestly annoys the **** out me lol. So i was relieved that in sport plus that is eliminated in the .2. It only does it in sport mode so its easily avoided.

Its eliminated in the .2? Jeez. Its almost worth upgrading for that alone. It bugs me when a super-refined modern automobile programs in a simulation of a carburetor.

Obviously my test drive of the new-ish Jag F-type v8 was about 45 seconds long. Fuel-dump on over-run is half the noise the car makes.

The stock exhaust is moderately restrictive, but the ECU limits the torque output of the car with the stock programming and will allegedly close the throttle in order to limit power if we uncork the intake or exhaust.

I haven't reprogrammed the ECU, but I've swapped exhausts for something louder. If the GT-R was even quieter, thats pretty sad. The stock TTS seems way way too quiet to me compared to something like a 991 GTS.

Blurble is one of the the most important parts of the exhaust experience, for me. If it doesn't blurble on downshift...it's a non-starter for me.

I did a Fabspeed with headers last year in my 16 TT/S...and while I'm not fully satisfied with it, the blurble on downshift is outstanding!

It's not only on carb'd cars...most fuel injected cars will do it as well. My stock '08 Z06 did it, but was cut off after 3 seconds by factory tuning. Once it was modded, it did it continuously during shifting. My stock Gen IV Viper did it when totally stock, and once the exhaust / headers were changed, it did it way more. I don't think I have a single vehicle in my stable that doesn't do it, albeit some better than others.

It's a personal preference...but most car guys I know, want it.

OP I'm sure you've heard a non-stock GT-R and how great they sound. Owning one myself I can relate to the lack of exhaust note on a GT-R.

I want it if its real i.e. due to exhaust flow , not programmed by the ecu to do it on every throttle lift exactly the same every time. Thats the big difference between NA cars and FI. Fake pops on throttle lift is a plague on many new FI cars IN MY OPINION. To each their own , i'm just glad there is an option to turn it off in the 17 TTS because with the much louder exhaust i'm putting on mine shortly it would be very annoying for it to do the exact same overrun sounds on EVERY single throttle lift lol . If you love that then leave it sport and your good to go lol. Its very easy to tell the difference between real and fake overrun for an enthusiast, its just as bad as active sound in my opinion.

Can't say I've heard the word "blurble" before, but I like it.
