Another happy Stage 3 customer of Sam ByDesign
Another thread to give kudos to Sam. A little background on myself. I love cars but by no means I am technically anywhere close to most of the folks in this forum. Got the 991 TTS since last December. As I do not track, I feel the car has more than enough power out of the box. After a few months of seat time and comparison with my old F10 M5, I started to wish for a few improvements:
1. Better exhaust note
2. Smoother delivery of power from to 0 to 4000 rpm
3. More power beyond 80 mph (M5 seems to have more reserve beyond 80 mph)
After following all the comments on different vendors and products for a few months in this forum, I decided to call Sam a month ago. Asked him a lot of dumb questions about tuning 101. He answered all my questions and went through the options considering my wish list - with a lot of patience. I needed that as I have never tuned any cars before.
Fast forward to 4 days ago. I decided to go for Stage 3 based on Sam's recommendation (and I glad I did). Since I am local, I hooked up with Sam (and Dan) at Speed Gallery in North Hollywood. Sam showed me all the parts and, as many have pointed out before, I was impressed with the quality of the products:
1. Kline exhaust
2. Headers
3. BMC filter
4. ByDesign intercoolers
Sam, did I miss anything? Sam and Dan (owner of Speed Gallery) were very thorough and knowledgeable and explained all my dumb questions. BTW, Sam was also nice enough to throw in a fix for a rim scratch on my Vorsteiner rim.
Picked up the car the car yesterday and drove it around for good 2 hours. Just as many has pointed out, the car now seems to have a different personality. In regular mode, it was just like stock (with a better note). In Sport and Sport+, it is now a monster. Sam was right and addressed my wish. Could not be happily. I just I do not have an itch to go to stage 4.

Love it. I've got the same setup for my TTS Cab being delivered next week and can't wait. Enjoy in good health.
Looks like you went with the cats. I'm going with the cats too initially as I have a cab.
What did you decide on so far as the tune?

I forgot to mention that. I went with Cobb with Sam's customized map. Sam showed me how to load the map and it was a pretty easy process. When I have time, I will play with the "aggressive boost response" (ABR) map.

Awesome. Sam says I will have my kit delivered Monday or Tuesday
What is the lip you are running on your front hood? Looks kinda GT3 like, what's it take to do that, looks really cool. Also, are you running 20 or 21 on the rims.
By the way, did you keep the factory tips or go with a GT2/ RS kinda thing
Thanks

Hey F! Was really nice meeting you and working with you. I really appreciate the chance and your faith in my opinions. I know you're gonna love this thing and enjoy many many miles of cruising as well as beast mode! The car looks amazing in those wheels are awesome!

Congrats on deciding to go Stage3 with Sam and enjoy it in good health. The factory tips are the quad tips with the black finish in the 5th pic posted of your installation.

I see. Yes, I like the factory tips as they look more "tailor made". The round ones or Akranapovic ones are nice but just not my preference.
