Does ECU adapts?

Recently drove my friends 991 w cobb tuning/ sam super package.. Car is freakishly awesome; but... It does miss shifts sometimes.. And its acting weird with the revvs like sudden up when you hit on it and does a sudden drop and up again... My friend went to a porsche/ euro car specialist and he told him that the car " memory for driving style of previous owner needed to be reset".. This as he stated wouldn't interfere with the cobb tuning... That the car was adapted to the hard as hell style of prior owner.. Is this the biggest BS in the world or could it be possible???

I'm pretty sure anytime a tune is installed all previous "memory" is erased. Did he buy it w/ the tune and mods already installed?
The car's ECU can be also reset from the Access Port (under the section w/ the engine icon) and this doesn't affect the tune but it will also erase previous learning.

Yes, tune and turbos and mods installed.. How do you reset it without erasing tune?

Does he have the Cobb Accessport?
You go into the troubleshooting menu and clear the ECU.
Most OBDII readers can also reset the ECU. This won't affect the actual tune.

I would check first for mechanical errors. A misfire could be as simple as needing plugs if it was indeed driven hard by a previous owner.

Also feel free to have him send us logs we are always happy to check them!

What your describing sounds more like a hardware problem, not the software. Adaptations would not cause the things you're describing.

If the RPM's are are revving up and down without the speed of the car changing, then you almost certainly have a PDK problem.

PDK may need re-learning.
