Drag strip set up
Drag strip set up
I know quite a few guys run their cars at these places so wanted some advice.
1. What should tire pressures be before a run ? Say surface temps in 90s?
2. PSM on or off?
3. PDCC on or off?
4. Octane booster?
5. Fuel level in tank ?
6. Flaps up or down ?
7. Manual or auto mode in sport plus?
8. Advice for quicker reaction time
Many thanks !

1. Have to test what works best for your tires. I used 24 cold.
2. On
3. On
4. Race gas
5. 1/4 tank or less
6. Retracted.
7. Auto
8. Practice your timing. You have to let off the brake a little before the green light.

A,
Try more tire pressure. It hurts your mile per hour and makes the car really Squirrley to go that low. These tires are designed for more pressure so if you don't have it to support the sidewall all the mechanical grip actually goes away.

My quarter mile set up
1. 26 PSI rear. 31 front.
2. If warm temps and prepped track PSM off. If cold unprepped track then PSM on.
3. PDCC off to allow for more weight transfer to the rear. In a half mile I turn it back in post launch.
4. Race gas (MS109/Torco 108/Sunoco 104).
5. 1/4 tank or less but never with fuel reserve light on.
6. Spoiler retracted.
7. Sport plus (but manually retract spiders and turn PDCC off) and launch control -- not manual use of paddles
8. Sidestep brake when light turns green rather than pulling back your left foot.
9. AC off

Make sure you start your launch when 3rd yellow light goes;
BUT to avoid the false start, you need to approach the start line very slow and cautiously. You need immediately stop as soon as 1st Set lights are on instead of running over the start line
it will give you nice start without the false start
if your front wheels even a little over the start line my advice will not work
Best regards

Try brake boosting the car in sport and spinning the tires some before staging. Make sure to remember to put the car back in sport plus and auto after that. You can't brake boost in sport plus as it goes into launch control automatically.

Driving through the water isn't recommended with street tires because sometimes water can remain within the tire tread and carry forward to the launch pad and cause wheel spin at launch. Driving around the water box on these cars with street tires is the preferred method.
Hey William just curious are you doing this while driving in/through the water box? I assume you aren't but this got me thinking about your other thread for reasons you were launching worse at the drag strip vs the street.
