New 991 1/4 Mile Record 8.80: AIM Performance/ES Motor
Set the 991 Porsche 1/4 Mile WORLD RECORD today. 8.8 @158mph.
Drove 2 hrs to the track, got in line and did one pass. World Record. Drove 2 hrs home.
Wasn't going to take my newly built ES1000 motor & Dodson clutch trans to the drag strip quite yet, but the weather and my schedule aligned. Plus I'm a 1/4 mile degenerate. It's what I like to do.
As I often say, "If you can turn, you aren't going fast enough."
Joe Santos & Ryan Kube at AIM Performance and Emre Levent stepped up (as they always do) last night and said "Screw it, SURE!". Emre tuned and dialed in the PDK launch control perfectly (remotely while on vacation!). You should have seen Ryan Kube doing launches last night in front of the shop and then sending data to Emre. O wait, I have a video of that! See below. lol. Then they mounted and balanced fresh MT radials on the fly.
Joe, Ryan and Emre are the best. Incredible work ethic. Thank you, boyz.

I guess it's official, your license plates are out-dated. LOL! Awesome job!
BTW, seem's like you were short shifting between 6,000 and 6,800RPMs. Or were you purposely shifting at those RPMs? Does the automatic function still work?

Yes, the shifts were deliberately early. Was targeting 7000 rpm shift points. Power drops off after that. The 1-2 shift was a bit early at 6k, but wanted to err on that side since if the tires spin on launch you quickly hit the limiter and blow the run. The automatic function still works, but I didn't use it. Joe and Ryan at AIM advised me to manually shift to control the shift points.

Thanks! Yes, was one of my easiest launches ever. Easier than when my car had less power. Emre from ES Motor and Ryan/Joe from AIM Performance did a fair amount of tuning and testing on the launch control. Worked perfectly. My only job was to shift into 2nd in time and I was sweatin that. lol
