MODULARE strikes first!!! 2012 Porsche 991 | 21" Modulare B18 Monoblock
.Wheels being your main area of expertise, i'm quite sure you know exactly what i and other members were referring to so i don't blame you (or any wheel expert for that matter) to fly a kite like this afterall, who's to say how many folks are out there that would be prepared to accept this visual deficiency for the sake of having the "bigger is better" look. And, sales are sales
. I've seen this disjointed look on cheaper cars trying too hard to look sharp but to be honest what struck me odd was seeing this look imposed on an expensive performance marque like a Porsche....and a brand new latest model one at that. Out here in Aus we would not likely see that done to a Porsche mainly due to the demographic that can stump up the outrageous $ we pay to buy these 911 cars (especially new). So, i guess it's more acceptable and commonplace in the states due to the general affordability which sees these cars into the wider masses? You guys are so lucky with that pricing. Eitherway i'm sure the owners think they look the bees knees and that's what counts i suppose. So on that note good luck to them and, even moreso to the tire guys that sold them
.PS. I note the 20" wheel Porsche uses in their marketing shots are the tight knit multispoke......to (try to) hide that obvious flaw. Food for thought.

speed21: I was not pointing the dirty stick at you in any way. More of a friendly jab. As I posted earlier in this thread, the 20's don't fill the well enough for myself while the 21' goes a little past "filling".
Whatever makes the owner happy...especially one's wife.
Cheers!

Thats fine Peter. I didn't take you as jumping on me least of all from any great height anyway

And yes it's hard to deny there's not a visual issue already re those shrinking brakes even with the stock 20's. What i found surprising was why would anyone want to further increase that problem... Using 20's would have at least left the issue status quo removing any argument on size judgement away from the vendor/owner. Anyway....putting it out there with the 21's i guess allows us to all see the resultant effect and make our individual calls accordingly.
To be honest... I think the OEM rim for the 997, the one that has the spokes all the way to - almost - the outside of the lip thus making the wheel even look bigger is the worst design I have seen since the Panamera. Personal opinion of course, but that is one ugly dish.

Edit: I note all 3 stock wheel options as shown in the link below all work toward closing off the view of the brakes. Usually you get a nice set of slim 5 spokes as an option wheel. I also note the 1st and last wheel selection are designs that look like earlier cayenne wheels rehashed. Looking at these there's a great opportunity for the aftermarket guys as it is without needing to upsize (imho).

what's not to love about this wheels and/or car.
Peter you score again.
to all those hating 21s. this is what the customer wants, so why attach the messenger. btw, i would do 21s all day long without a hesitation.
If i was tracking the car and was actually a good driver then i would opt for light weight forged wheels in 19 inch configs as I would think 18s would be way tiny on the body.
